TL;DR: The occurrence of a bronchial fi stula following pneumonectomy is a frequent life threatening event, especially in cases of right sided resections and extended procedures, and tobacco cessation, preoperative rehabilitation, and reinforcement of the bronchia suture are possible means of prevention.
