Obesity and Prevalence of Cardiovascular Diseases and Prognosis—The Obesity Paradox Updated
Carl J. Lavie,Alban De Schutter,Parham Parto,Eiman Jahangir,Peter Kokkinos,Francisco B. Ortega,Ross Arena,Richard V. Milani +7 more
TL;DR: The implication for fitness to markedly alter the relationship between adiposity and prognosis and the potential impact of weight loss, in light of the obesity paradox, are all reviewed.

The Interaction of Cardiorespiratory Fitness With Obesity and the Obesity Paradox in Cardiovascular Disease.
Ahmet Afşin Oktay,Carl J. Lavie,Peter Kokkinos,Parham Parto,Ambarish Pandey,Hector O. Ventura +5 more
TL;DR: The current concepts of individual and combined contributions of fatness and fitness to CVD risk and prognosis are discussed and the influence of fitness on the obesity paradox in individuals with CVD is examined.

Percutaneous Ventricular Assist Devices: A Novel Approach in the Management of Patients With Acute Cardiogenic Shock
TL;DR: Temporary MCS has emerged as a therapeutic option in the management of patients with acute cardiogenic shock, however, clinician familiarity with the indications, limitations, and benefits of individual MCS devices and enhanced patient comfort with the placement are paramount to improve patient outcomes.

The role of cardiorespiratory fitness on plasma lipid levels.
TL;DR: Lots of smaller, more atherogenic LDL particles seem to decrease with increases in cardio-respiratory fitness and exercise, and favorable blood lipid profiles seem to persist longer through the adult life span.

Body habitus in heart failure: understanding the mechanisms and clinical significance of the obesity paradox
TL;DR: The gender differences, global application, potential mechanisms and role of interventions based on fitness and purposeful weight loss as potential therapeutic strategies, and the presence of an obesity paradox are discussed.
