Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and the estrogen receptor modulator amplified in breast cancer (AIB1) for predicting clinical outcome after adjuvant tamoxifen in breast cancer
Looket Dihge,Pär-Ola Bendahl,Dorthe Grabau,Jorma Isola,Kristina Lövgren,Lisa Rydén,Mårten Fernö +6 more
TL;DR: Both AIB1 and EGFR were associated to DDFS for breast cancer patients treated with two years of adjuvant tamoxifen;AIB1 with the development of early distant recurrences, indicating association between high AIB 1 and resistance to tamoxIFen during treatment, and EG FR with distant recURrences up to a follow up of five years.
Histological grade provides significant prognostic information in addition to breast cancer subtypes defined according to St Gallen 2013.
Anna Ehinger,Per-Uno Malmström,Pär-Ola Bendahl,C.W. Elston,Anna Karin Falck,Carina Forsare,Dorthe Grabau,Lisa Rydén,Olle Stål,Mårten Fernö +9 more
TL;DR: Patients with ER-positive/HER2-negative/G1 breast cancer have a good prognosis, similar to that of ‘Luminal A-like’, while those with ER’s positive/her2- negative/G3 breast cancers have a worse prognosis; therapy decisions based on Ki-67 and PgR might be restricted to the subgroup G2.
Nuclear Janus-activated kinase 2/nuclear factor 1-C2 suppresses tumorigenesis and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition by repressing Forkhead box F1.
Jeanette Nilsson,Khalil Helou,Anikó Kovács,Pär-Ola Bendahl,Gunnar Bjursell,Mårten Fernö,Peter Carlsson,Marie Kannius-Janson +7 more
TL;DR: A novel pathway in breast cancer that regulates epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), motility, and invasiveness is described and the first evidence for a role of FoxF1 in cancer and in the regulation of EMT in cells of epithelial origin is provided.

Association between preoperative plasma levels of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1 and rectal cancer patient survival : a validation study
Mads Nikolaj Holten-Andersen,Ib Jarle Christensen,Mef Nilbert,Pär-Ola Bendahl,Hans Jørgen Nielsen,Nils Brünner,Eva Fernebro +6 more
TL;DR: This study showed a highly significant and independent association between preoperative plasma TIMP-1 levels and survival in rectal cancer patients, thus confirming the previous findings.

Randomized phase III trial of low-molecular-weight heparin enoxaparin in addition to standard treatment in small-cell lung cancer: the RASTEN trial.
Lars Ek,Emelie Gezelius,B. Bergman,Pär-Ola Bendahl,Harald Anderson,J. Sundberg,M. Wallberg,Ursula Falkmer,S. Verma,Mattias Belting +9 more
TL;DR: LMWH enoxaparin in addition to standard therapy did not improve OS in SCLC patients despite being administered at a supraprophylactic dose and despite resulting in a significant reduction in VTE incidence.
