Dose-dependent absorption and elimination of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid in healthy volunteers.
Paolo Palatini,L. Tedeschi,Giampietro Frison,Roberto Padrini,R. Zordan,Rocco Orlando,Luigi Gallimberti,G. L. Gessa,Santo Davide Ferrara +8 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that both the oral absorption and the elimination of GHB are capacity-limited processes in treatment of the alcohol and opiate withdrawal syndromes.
Left Ventricular Performance in the Early Stages of Systemic Hypertension
Paolo Palatini,P Visentin,Paolo Mormino,Marco Pietra,D. Piccolo,E. Cozzutti,Vincenzo Mione,Paolo Bocca,Francesco Perissinotto,Achille C. Pessina +9 more
TL;DR: Whether and how frequently left ventricular (LV) systolic performance assessed with endocardial and midwall measurement is depressed in young subjects with mild systemic hypertension is investigated.
European Society of Hypertension recommendations for the validation of cuffless blood pressure measuring devices: European Society of Hypertension Working Group on Blood Pressure Monitoring and Cardiovascular Variability.
George S. Stergiou,Alberto Avolio,Paolo Palatini,Konstantinos G. Kyriakoulis,Aletta E. Schutte,Stephan Mieke,Anastasios Kollias,Gianfranco Parati,Roland Asmar,Nikos Pantazis,Kei Asayama,Paolo Castiglioni,Alejandro de la Sierra,Jin-Oh Hahn,Kazuomi Kario,Richard J McManus,Martin G. TL;DR: The European Society of Hypertension (ESH) Working Group on BP Monitoring and Cardiovascular Variability as discussed by the authors recommends procedures for validating intermittent cuffless blood pressure (BP) devices.

Evaluation of measured and calculated creatinine clearances as glomerular filtration markers in different stages of liver cirrhosis.
TL;DR: It is shown that measured C(Cr) is a reliable index of GFR in cirrhotic patients, irrespective of the degree of liver dysfunction, and Calculated C( Cr) is still an adequate marker of G FR in patients with compensated liver cirrhosis, whereas it overestimates GFR by the Cockcroft-Gault formula.
Autonomic Dysfunction: How to Identify and When to Treat?
TL;DR: ABPM is helpful to identify some specific characteristics of haemodynamic AD, including non-d dipping/reverse-dipping pattern, orthostatic and post-prandial hypotension and elevated blood pressure variability, which have been found to be predictors of cardiovascular events, organ damage, and mortality.
