Any product outsourcing expands the geological boundaries of production industries under the global supply chain management. The global outsourcing increases concerns for production industries, which is less for domestic supply chain management. Two main strategy making for product outsourcing under the global supply chain are the proper information about products and services for those products. This study examines a service-driven digital global supply chain management to find intriguing factors for product outsourcing decision-making with international tax, dollar rate, and tariff. The flexible production & the production-transportation lead time of manufacturers and two-stage safety factors of retailers are features of the digital global supply chain. Manufacturers develop a new investment strategy on radio frequency identification technology for product information sharing with retailers. Both manufacturers and retailers pay carbon tax for all products along with transportation for the environmental development. A classical optimization technique finds the global optimum profit of the global supply chain management. Numerical results establish service and safety stock of products as two decision-making factors for digital global supply chain management. The profit is high when retailers are situated in a low-economy country with high service. Retailers in a high-economy country with no service cause a 57.98% loss than the original profit. This phenomenon justifies that local customers can put their trust in buying imported products when they are sure about product-related services. Comparison, discussions, and sensitivity analysis are provided for a detailed result analysis.

Blockchain technology (BCT) has become a focal point of attention within the field of supply chain management (SCM), characterized as a transformative and disruptive technology capable of instilling transparency and trust. While parallels between BCT and the internet have been drawn, its practical application in SCM remains in an early stage, resulting in a limited body of literature and a pronounced debate with divergent perspectives concerning its impact in this SCM domain. Drawing upon the Relational View (RV) and Dynamic Capabilities View (DCV), this study aims to address this debate by investigating the role of BCT in enhancing supply chain performance. The study utilizes semi-structured interviews with 31 industry experts, followed by thematic analysis, to unveil the underlying mechanisms through which BCT influences supply chain performance. Our findings underscore the pivotal role of trust, facilitated by BCT features, in enhancing SC performance, emphasizing the interdependence of trust in technology, platforms, and SC members. Moreover, our study uncovers the substantial influence of supply chain uncertainty on the association between BCT and trust, acknowledging its pertinence in the modern business landscape. Additionally, we present a conceptual model that elucidates the relationships among BCT, trust, relational capabilities, and supply chain performance. Our qualitative investigation suggests that trust, relational capabilities, and dynamic capabilities sequentially mediate the association between BCT and supply chain performance. This research, while reaffirming the applicability of the original RV model in the context of BCT, contributes to a nuanced perspective by identifying additional associations within the relational view. Specifically, we identify knowledge sharing, effective governance, and resource complementarity as mediating factors in the relationship between relation-specific assets and relational rent. Our study provides practical advice to managers and practitioners. It stresses the need to understand how BCT impacts supply chain performance and the crucial role of trust. We also recommend nurturing relational capabilities in supply chain networks and considering the context-specific benefits of BCT, especially in uncertain environments. This understanding enables informed decision-making to tackle challenges and leverage opportunities.

COVID-19 pandemic has created disruptions and risks in global supply chains. Big data analytics (BDA) has emerged in recent years as a potential solution for provisioning predictive and pre-emptive information to companies in order to preplan and mitigate the impacts of such risks. The focus of this article is to gain insights into how BDA can help companies combat a crisis like COVID-19 via a multimethodological scientific study. The advent of a crisis like COVID-19 brings with it uncertainties, and information processing theory (IPT) provides a perspective on the ways to deal with such uncertainties. We use IPT, in conjunction with the Crisis Management Theory, to lay the foundation of the article. After establishing the theoretical basis, we conduct two surveys towards supply chain managers, one before and one after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. We follow it up with qualitative interviews to gain further insights. The application of multiple methods helps ensure the triangulation of results and, hence, enhances the research rigor. Our research finds that although the current adoption of BDA in the Indian industry has not grown to a statistically significant level, there are serious future plans for the industry to adopt BDA for crisis management. The interviews also highlight the current status of adoption and the growth of BDA in the Indian industry. The article interestingly identifies that the traditional barriers to implementing new technologies (like BDA for crisis management) are no longer present in the current times. The COVID-19 pandemic has hence accelerated technology adoption and at the same time uncovered some BDA implementation challenges in practice (e.g., a lack of data scientists). IEEE

Big Data Analytics for Crisis Management From an Information Processing Theory Perspective: A Multimethodological Study

From the visionary thinking the sustainable development is must for the survival of future generation and humans. For the sustainable development the economy should have sustainable competitiveness. Therefore the main objective of this study is to compare the sustainability competitiveness of SAARC and G7 nations. To meet this objective the data has been collected from the official reports on global sustainability competitiveness index. The main five pillars of this index viz. natural capital, resource efficiency, intellectual capital, governance performance, and social capital are compared between nations and group of nations. To get statistically significant results the independent sample t-test, One-Way ANOVA, and Post-hoc Tukey test has been performed. In case of SAARC nations the results indicates that the Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka are having lower sustainability competitiveness as compared to the Maldives, Bhutan, and Nepal. In case of G7 nations the results indicates that the US, Italy, and Canada are having lower sustainability competitiveness as compared to the Japan, France, UK, and Germany. In further investigation of the data it is observed that the sustainability competitiveness of G7 nations is higher as compare to the SAARC nations. The results of this study will be helpful to the nations, NGOs, and several world organisations working for sustainable development of the nations and universe.
