TL;DR: Overall, shortburst oxygen therapy neither reduced dyspnoea nor improved performance, and this study does not support the use of short Burst oxygen therapy either immediately before or after exercise.

Ambulatory oxygen improves quality of life of COPD patients: a randomised controlled study.
TL;DR: Assessment of the short-term clinical impact of ambulatory O2 in a 12-week, double-blind, randomised crossover study of O2 of dyspnoeic but not chronically hypoxic COPD patients with exertional desaturation found improvements in Chronic Respiratory Questionnaire, Hospital Anxiety and Depression scale and the short form SF-36.
