Suboptimal estimation of the parameters of discrete systems in the presence of correlated noise
P.N. James,P. Souter,D.C. Dixon +2 more
TL;DR: In this paper, consistent estimates for the parameters of a linear difference equation which describes a system having an output corrupted by correlated noise are obtained using an unbiased objective function and a fast algorithm which employs an iterative least-squares technique.

A study of inertial effects in sedimentation
TL;DR: In this article, a simple model of an incompressible slurry and a numerical test of the effect of neglecting inertial effects in sedimentation was made, and it was shown that inertia cannot generally be ignored, and that a Type I sedimentation will only exhibit Type II sedimentation.

A comparison of parameter estimation algorithms for discrete systems
P.N. James,P. Souter,D.C. Dixon +2 more
TL;DR: Nine digital algorithms for estimating the parameters of discrete systems have been compared when applied to a second-order system having a stochastic input and output and their computer storage requirements and speed are tabulated.
