Performance, energy loss, and degradation prediction of roof-integrated crystalline solar PV system installed in Northern India

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc globally and still persists even after a year of its initial outbreak. Several reasons can be considered: people are in close contact with each other, i.e., at a short range (1 m), and the healthcare system is not sufficiently developed or does not have enough facilities to manage and fight the pandemic, even in developed countries such as the USA and the U.K. and countries in Europe. There is a great need in healthcare for remote monitoring of COVID-19 symptoms. In the past year, a number of IoT-based devices and wearables have been introduced by researchers, providing good results in terms of high accuracy in diagnosing patients in the prodromal phase and in monitoring the symptoms of patients, i.e., respiratory rate, heart rate, temperature, etc. In this systematic review, we analyzed these wearables and their need in the healthcare system. The research was conducted using three databases: IEEE Xplore®, Web of Science®, and PubMed Central®, between December 2019 and June 2021. This article was based on the PRISMA guidelines. Initially, 1100 articles were identified while searching the scientific literature regarding this topic. After screening, ultimately, 70 articles were fully evaluated and included in this review. These articles were divided into two categories. The first one belongs to the on-body sensors (wearables), their types and positions, and the use of AI technology with ehealth wearables in different scenarios from screening to contact tracing. In the second category, we discuss the problems and solutions with respect to utilizing these wearables globally. This systematic review provides an extensive overview of wearable systems for the remote management and automated assessment of COVID-19, taking into account the reliability and acceptability of the implemented technologies.

Technology-based education is the modern-day medium that is widely being used by teachers and their students to exchange information over applications based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) such as Google Glass. There is still resistance shown by a few universities around the globe when it comes to shifting to the online mode of education. While few have shifted to Google Glass, others are yet to do so. We base this study to explore Google Glass Adoption in the Gulf area. We thought that introducing the teachers and students to all the pros that Google Glass presents on the table might get their attention in considering using it as the medium to exchange information in their respective institutes. This paper presents the structure of a framework depicting the association between TAM and other Influential factors. All in all, this investigation analyzes the incorporation of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with the major features associated with the method such as instructing and learning facilitator, functionality, and trust and information privacy to improve correspondence among facilitators and students during the learning process. A total of 420 questionnaires were collected from various universities. The data that was gathered through the surveys was employed for the analysis of the research model using the Partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and machine learning models. The outcome showed that the factor of functionality and trust and privacy goes hand in hand with perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use associated with Google Glass. Both the Factors, Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have a significant impact on Google Glass adoption. This implies the significant impact of Perceived ease of use and Trust and privacy on the adoption of Google Glass The study also offers practical implications of outcomes for future research.

Predicting the intention to use google glass: A comparative approach using machine learning models and PLS-SEM

Solar energy is one of the greatest attractions among the renewable energy re-sources used for electrification. Harnessing solar energy needs photovoltaic (PV) system that converts light energy from sun into direct electricity. Photovoltaic systems can be installed at any place where sufficient energy potentials are avail-able. The major challenge in the PV systems is to study its performance as it is varying with respect to various parameters and system components functioning. Hence real time monitoring system is needed to assess its performance. This study briefs about the use of internet of things (IoT) in performance monitoring and real time control of PV systems. Focus is made on the IoT need and its architecture for PV systems with relevant discussions. Use of IoT enhances the understanding over the real time operating parameters. This helps in accessing the control over the PV systems installed at remote areas, effective and fast fault diagnosis, maintenance, recording generation and performance data for analysis.

Internet of Things (IoT) in Photovoltaic Systems

This paper presents, a study on grid feed-in electricity estimations from a roof integrated PV system. The system is configured with Si-amorph PV array, inverter, utility meter and electric power grid. Parameters that would influence PV electricity like roof or PV array orientation (north east, east, south east, south, south west, west, north west, and north), tilt angle (0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, and 90°), and available roof surface area (2 Sq. m, 10 Sq. m, 20 Sq. m, 50 Sq. m, 100 Sq. m, 200 Sq. m, 500 Sq. m and 1000 Sq. m) were considered during this study. Based on these selected parameters 448 combinations of grid integrated PV systems were studied for Hyderabad City in Telangana State of India. All 448 combination were analyzed in PV-Online simulation tool and the results were assessed for best orientation and tilt angle. Results includes power of the PV-field at STC in kW as per the roof or PV array area in Sq. m, grid feed-in electricity as per eight PV array orientations with respect to different tilt angles, performance ratios (PR's) and grid feed-in payment for 448 combinations. Apart from this, grid feed-in electricity and performance ratios (PR's) were compared between horizontal and vertical roof mounted PV systems with all eight orientations.

Smart glasses proven to be one of the modern computing devices that unite the humans and machines with the help of information and communication technology (ICT). In recent years, it is seen that smart glasses have been used in the medical and gaming applications. However, the features of smart glasses can contribute its services in other fields too. In this paper, a study is carried out to explore the possible application of smart glasses in the education sector. In the investigation, most features of smart glass were found to be in favours with the requirements of teaching and learning process adopted in the education sector. Typical applications of wearable smart glass in education include the augmented reality, documentation of lecture, on-site report preparation, recording lectures as videos, capturing essential points as images, telementoring, trainee’s evaluation, understanding the listener's experience and nature, student concentration evaluation etc. Besides, these the possible benefits of adopting and challenges in implementing are also explored. The outcome of this study suggests that the implementation of smart glasses in the education sector will enhance the concept of ICT education.
