TL;DR: The effects of PDT on the normal pancreas and adjacent tissues in hamsters using the photosensitiser meso-tetrahydroxyphenylchlorin (mTHPC) are looked at and mTHPC is suitable for further study for tumours in the region of the Pancreas although care is required near the duodenum.

TL;DR: Experiments showed that the PDT effect can be markedly enhanced by fractionating the light dose, and a single short interruption in the light irradiation may dramatically reduce the net light dose required to achieve extensive necrosis.

Suppression of resistance to aminolevulinic acid-based photodynamic therapy in esophageal cell lines by administration of iron chelators in collagen type I matrices
TL;DR: Although PDT dose required modification in cell line dependent manner to achieve comparable effect of PDT alone in conventional monolayers and in collagen matrices, the potential of iron chelators to suppress resistance of oesophageal cells to ALA-PDT was not influenced by fibrillar collagen matrix.
