The gut microbiota, Tryptophan (Trp) and Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptors (AhRs) form a triad involved in Parkinson’s Disease (PD). A disturbed gut–brain axis allows the bidirectional spread of pro-inflammatory molecules and α-synuclein, contributing to the development/progression of the disease.
