Analysis of skeletal muscle gene expression patterns and the impact of functional capacity in patients with systolic heart failure
Daniel E. Forman,Daniel E. Forman,Karla Daniels,Lawrence P. Cahalin,Alexandra Zavin,Kelly Allsup,Peirang Cao,Mahalakshmi Santhanam,Jacob Joseph,Jacob Joseph,Ross Arena,Antonio A. Lazzari,Antonio A. Lazzari,P. Christian Schulze,Stewart H. Lecker +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, coordinated shifts in expression of ubiquitin-mediated atrophy-promoting genes are associated with muscle atrophy and contribute to decreased physical function in systolic heart failure patients.

p53-Upregulated Modulator of Apoptosis (PUMA) A Novel Proapoptotic Molecule in the Failing Heart
TL;DR: There is evidence that apoptosis rates are increased in patients with HF, leading to the hypothesis that abrogation of apoptotic molecular pathways may be protective against the progression of disease.

Access Site Complications of Peripheral Endovascular Procedures: A Large, Prospective Registry on Predictors and Consequences.
Andrei Ciprian Cacuci,Hans Krankenberg,Maja Ingwersen,Mohamed Gayed,Sven Daniel Stein,Daniel Kretzschmar,P. Christian Schulze,Marcus Thieme +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated predictors and consequences of acute vascular access site complications related to peripheral endovascular diagnostic or interventional prasive procedures, such as angiography.

Assessing the diagnostic value of a potential screening tool for detecting early interstitial lung disease at the onset of inflammatory rheumatic diseases
Tobias Hoffmann,Peter Oelzner,Marcus Franz,Ulf Teichgräber,Diane M. Renz,Martin Förster,Joachim Böttcher,Claus Kroegel,P. Christian Schulze,Gunter Wolf,Alexander Pfeil +10 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the diagnostic value and utility of a stepwise approach as a potential ILD screening tool in patients with newly diagnosed inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRD) and found that the combination of reduced diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO) < 80% showed a sensitivity of 83.6% and a specificity of 45.6%, respectively, in detecting ILD.
Intensive lipid-lowering therapy for early achievement of guideline-recommended LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (“Jena auf Ziel”)
Umida Makhmudova,B. Samadifar,Aurel Maloku,P Haxhikadrija,Jens-Arndt Geiling,Robert Römer,Bernward Lauer,Sven Möbius-Winkler,S. Ott,P. Christian Schulze,O. Weingärtner +10 more
TL;DR: The Jena auf Ziel-JaZ study as mentioned in this paper showed that early combination therapy with atorvastatin 80 mg and ezetimibe 10 mg was initiated on admission in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and lipid-lowering therapy was escalated during follow-up with bempedoic acid and PCSK9 inhibitors to achieve recommended LDL-C targets in all patients.
