What is modal logic

In this work, we define an extended fuzzy temporal constraint logic (EFTCL) based on possibilistic logic. EFTCL allows us to handle fuzzy temporal constraints between temporal variables and, therefore, enables us to express interrelated events through fuzzy temporal constraints. EFTCL is compatible with a theoretical temporal reasoning model: the fuzzy temporal constraint networks (FTCN). The syntax, the semantics and the deduction and refutation theorems for EFTCL are similar to those defined for the sound and noncomplete fuzzy temporal constraint logic (FTCL). In this paper, a resolution principle for performing inferences which take these constraints into account is proposed for EFTCL. Moreover, we prove the soundness and the completeness of the refutation by resolution in EFTCL.

A sound and complete fuzzy temporal constraint logic

In this paper I analyze the temporal structures that are appropriate to study the notion of point of view. When we analyze the points of view and their structure, it seems clear that we must take into account the time t in which a point of view is attributed to a subject. A two-dimensional temporal logic which combines a modal dimension for possibilities and a temporal one for the flow of time, offers a clear view of the temporary location of a point of view. In this logic, we have histories, thanks to the temporal dimension, and evaluation is in two indices, time and history. These stories can be seen as different scenarios, providing a clear advantage when applying to the analysis of the notion of point of view. The conclusion is that, in order to give a proper approach for the notion of point of view, all these aspects should be combined.

Branching Time Structures and Points of View

The work presented in this thesis is a multidisciplinary study of the notion of agency. We build new formal approaches starting on the literature of agency in philosophy of action, game theory or computer science. Belnap and Perloff's STIT theory is our frame of experimentation. This is a logic that stems from philosophy of action based on the observation that an action can be identi_ed with what it brings about. In this tradition, the sentence. Our first contribution is to simplify the axiomatics of a version of the logic restrained to individual agency and without temporal aspects. This allows us to simplify the semantics of STIT as well as to discover a link with product logics. We establish the NEXPTIME-completeness of the problem of satisfiability. We capitalize on the simplifications and extend the axiomatization to coalitional actions. We show that we can embed Coalition Logic in the resulting logic. We also provide an epistemic extension and use it to tackle the problem of epistemically uniform strategies. Then we study further the temporal aspects of agency. We first do it by way of a logic combining STIT with a dynamic logic providing actions with duration, that can be deliberatively continued or aborted along time. We then give an embedding of Alternating-time Temporal Logic in a slightly adapted strategic STIT logic. Having developed a neat understanding of relevant structures of agency, we propose a fine-grained ontology of action and agency.

Independent agents in branching time : towards a unified framework for reasoning about multiagent systems

We introduce hybrid Ockhamist temporal logic, which combines the mechanisms of hybrid logic with Ockhamist semantics by employing nominals, satisfaction operators, binders, and quantifiers over branches. We provide a complete (with respect to bundled trees semantics) axiomatic system for the basic hybrid Ockhamist temporal logic (HOT) and for some of its extensions including the full hybrid Ockhamist temporal logic. The fill system is expressively equivalent to the first-order logic over trees extended with branch quantifiers which was proved decidable previously.
