TL;DR: Mechanistically, it is discovered that malignant cells with mesenchymal features display increased chromatin accessibility, particularly in the pericentromeric and centromeric regions, which in turn results in delayed mitosis and catastrophic cell division, strongly supporting the concept of a cell-state, lineage-restricted patterns of evolution.

Editorial The continuing search for cancer-causing somatic mutations
Gillian L. Dalgliesh,P. Andrew Futreal +1 more
- 01 Jan 2007
TL;DR: Chanock et al. as discussed by the authors presented a screen of 91 breast cancers for somatic variants in a set of 21 genes and found that mutations in these genes by no means account for all instances of the disease.

TL;DR: In this paper, distinct H3F3A and H 3F3B driver mutations were defined for chondroblastoma and giant cell tumor of bone, respectively, and they were shown to be useful for diagnosis of bone cancer.

TL;DR: A prospective observational study of MGUS/SMM patients to identify genomic, immunological, and clinical parameters that may predict disease progression, and to recognize potential therapeutic targets for MGUS and SMM patients at high-risk of progression is designed.

TL;DR: The leukemia cell hierarchy make-up was determined from bulk transcriptomes of over 1000 patients through deconvolution using single-cell reference profiles of leukemia stem, progenitor, and mature cell types and converged into four overall classes, spanning Primitive, Mature, GMP, and Intermediate.
