Developmental, transcriptome, and genetic alterations associated with parthenocarpy in the grapevine seedless somatic variant Corinto bianco
Carolina Royo,Pablo Carbonell-Bejerano,Rafael Torres-Pérez,A. Nebish,Óscar Martínez,Manuel Rey,Rouben Aroutiounian,Javier Ibáñez,José M. Martínez-Zapater +8 more
TL;DR: Results revealed that the absence of a mature macrogametophyte, probably due to meiosis arrest, coupled with a process of fertilization-independent fruit growth, caused parthenocarpy in CB.
Highly efficient in vitro tetraploid plant production via colchicine treatment using embryogenic suspension cultures in grapevine ( Vitis vinifera cv. Mencía)
Yosvanis Acanda,Yosvanis Acanda,Óscar Martínez,María Victoria González,María Jesús Prado,Manuel Rey +5 more
TL;DR: This is the first report on in vitro chromosome doubling by colchicine treatment of embryogenic cell aggregates growing in grapevine suspension cultures, which allows an increase in Grapevine genetic diversity and could be a valuable tool for improving this crop.

Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors Increase the Embryogenic Potential and Alter the Expression of Embryogenesis-Related and HDAC-Encoding Genes in Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L., cv. Mencía).
Óscar Martínez,Verónica Arjones,María Victoria González,Manuel Rey +3 more
- 08 Jun 2021
TL;DR: The use of an induction medium containing histone deacetylase inhibitors (trichostatin A and, mainly, sodium butyrate) resulted in an improvement of the embryogenic responses in grapevine (cv. Mencia) cotyledonary and recently germinated somatic embryos as mentioned in this paper.

EMS mutagenesis and qPCR-HRM prescreening for point mutations in an embryogenic cell suspension of grapevine
TL;DR: Embryogenic suspension cultures are suitable for EMS mutagenesis in grapevine, and HRM prescreening of EMS-treated somatic embryo clusters allows rapid detection of point mutations before plant regeneration.

Changes in abscisic acid metabolism in relation to the maturation of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L., cv. Mencía) somatic embryos.
Yosvanis Acanda,Yosvanis Acanda,Óscar Martínez,María Jesús Prado,María Victoria González,Manuel Rey +5 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrated the involvement of ABA metabolism in the control of the maturation of grapevine somatic embryos cultured over a semipermeable membrane and two important control points for their endogenous ABA levels.
