A throttle body comprising a main body defining a cylindrical intake air channel and including a valve member movable between an open and a fully closed position. The valve seal surface and a contact surface are configured such that the valve seal surface sealingly contacts with the corresponding contact surface when a fully closed position of the valve has been displaced due to contraction of one of the main body and the valve member. The valve seal surface and the contact surface of the valve member in the fully closed position are inclined by an angle. The contact angle of inclination gradually decreases from a first point located on a circumference of the periphery of the valve member resulting from a line perpendicular to an intersection of the central axis and the rotation axis to a second point that is proximate to the rotation axis of the valve member.

Disclosed is a method for sealing a throttle valve port, according to which a bottom part of a two-piece throttle valve is fixed to a throttle valve shaft in a first step, whereupon at least one elastic compensating element is placed upon the bottom part in a second step. A top part of the two-piece throttle valve is then positioned on the at least one elastic compensating element and is fixed to the throttle valve shaft in a third step. A medium is introduced between the bottom part and the top part and the at least one elastic compensating element by means of the bottom part or the top part in a fourth step, whereby the at least one elastic compensating element is pressed against the inner wall of the throttle valve port. In a fifth step, the at least one elastic compensating element which is pressed against the inner wall of the throttle valve port is connected to the bottom part and the top part of the two-piece throttle valve.

A butterfly valve device (1), particularly an electrically actuated butterfly valve device (1) e.g. for use in an intake manifold of an internal combustion engine is designed in such a way that the effort required for assembling the intake manifold can be reduced while the requirements regarding dimensional tolerances and tightness can be met and the number of parts is minimized. This aim is achieved by the fact that at least one housing part (3) of the butterfly valve device (1) is embodied monolithically along with an intake pipe (15) that is disposed upstream or downstream of the butterfly valve device (1).

The present invention relates to a throttle valve connection piece for an internal combustion engine. The piece includes a housing and a throughflow opening in which the valve is pivotably mounted around a pivot axis. The pivot axis extends in a perpendicular manner with respect to a longitudinal axis of the opening. The valve is used to close the throughflow opening. When in a closed position, the valve is inclined at a defined setting angle in relation to the longitudinal axis. The radial peripheral edge of the valve rests against the inner wall of the throughflow opening and the throughflow opening has a cylindrical shape at least in the region where the valve comes to rest. The cylindrical region of rest in relation to the longitudinal axis of the throughflow opening forms a circular cylinder which is cut on both sides at a certain angle, the levels of the cut are inclined at a similar angle in relation to the longitudinal axis.

When in a closed position, the butterfly valve (7) is inclined at a defined setting angle (10) in relation to the longitudinal axis (9) of the throughflow opening (2). The radial peripheral edge (8) thereof rests against the inner wall of the throughflow opening (2) and the throughflow opening (2) has a cylindrical shape at least in the region where the butterfly valve (7) comes to rest. The cylindrical region of rest in relation to the longitudinal axis (9) of the throughflow opening (2) forms a circular cylinder (17) which is cut on both sides at a certain angle, whereby the levels of the cut are inclined at a similar angle (10) in relation to the longitudinal axis (9) of the throughflow opening (2) and the butterfly valve (7) when arranged in a closed position.
