Detecting Non-reference and Non-anaphoricity
Olga Uryupina,Mijail Kabadjov,Massimo Poesio +2 more
- 01 Jan 2016
TL;DR: This chapter discusses in detail the proposals by Bergsma on expletive detection, and by Poesio et al. and Kabadjov on discourse-new detection of non-referentiality and non-anaphoricity.

Multilingual Mention Detection for Coreference Resolution
Olga Uryupina,Alessandro Moschitti +1 more
- 01 Oct 2013
TL;DR: This paper proposes a novel algorithm for multilingual mention detection that extracts mentions from parse trees via kernelbased SVM learning, and evaluates its approach on the Arabic and Chinese portions of the CoNLL-2012 dataset, showing a significant improvement over the system with the baseline mention detection.

Single and multi-objective optimization for feature selection in anaphora resolution
Sriparna Saha,Asif Ekbal,Olga Uryupina,Massimo Poesio +3 more
- 01 Nov 2011
TL;DR: This paper shows that optimize models according to multiple metrics simultaneously may result in better results with respect to each individual metric than optimizing according to that metric only, and that this is possible to develop such models using Multi-objective Optimization techniques based on Genetic Algorithms.

Adapting a State-of-the-art Anaphora Resolution System for Resource-poor Language
Utpal Kumar Sikdar,Asif Ekbal,Sriparna Saha,Olga Uryupina,Massimo Poesio +4 more
- 01 Oct 2013
TL;DR: This work presents a state-of-the-art anaphora resolution system for a resource poor language, namely Bengali, and develops a number of models for mention detection based on heuristics and machine learning.
