Rate of antithrombotic drug use and clinical outcomes according to CHADS2 scores in patients with an initial cardioembolic stroke who had nonvalvular atrial fibrillation.
TL;DR: The overall warfarin use rate was low in initial cardioembolic stroke patients with NVAF and clinical outcomes deteriorated with increases in the CHADS2 score, age ≥ 75 years, and NIHSS score on admission, which were related to a poor clinical outcome.

Progressive Multiple Cranial Nerve Palsies as the Presenting Symptom of Meningeal Carcinomatosis from Occult Colon Adenocarcinoma
TL;DR: A rare case of meningeal carcinomatosis is described in a 77-year-old woman who had bilateral deafness as the initial symptom of a previously undetected colon cancer malignancy.

Significance of Magnetic Resonance Angiography–Diffusion Weighted Imaging Mismatch in Hyperacute Cerebral Infarction
Ichiro Deguchi,Hidetaka Takeda,Daisuke Furuya,Tomohisa Dembo,Harumitsu Nagoya,Yuji Kato,Yasuo Ito,Takuya Fukuoka,Hajime Maruyama,Norio Tanahashi +9 more
TL;DR: Therapeutic results with respect to lesion size were analyzed and compared in patients with hyperacute cerebral infarction with and without major artery lesions on magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) and in those who did and did not receive intravenous (IV) tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA).

Dual Antiplatelet Therapy Clopidogrel with Low-dose Cilostazol Intensifies Platelet Inhibition in Patients with Ischemic Stroke
Hajime Maruyama,Takuya Fukuoka,Ichiro Deguchi,Yasuko Ohe,Harumitsu Nagoya,Yuji Kato,Yohsuke Horiuchi,Takeshi Hayashi,Norio Tanahashi +8 more
TL;DR: Clopidogrel resistance was clearly decreased with combination clopIDogrel (75 mg) and low-dose (100 mg) cilostazol therapy, suggesting that the use of combination therapy with clopidosine diphosphate andLow-dose cilastazol may be one means of overcoming clopidoogrel Resistance.

Predictive factors for bleeding during treatment with rivaroxaban and warfarin in Japanese patients with atrial fibrillation - Subgroup analysis of J-ROCKET AF.
Masatsugu Hori,Masayasu Matsumoto,Norio Tanahashi,Shin-ichi Momomura,Shinichiro Uchiyama,Shinya Goto,Tohru Izumi,Yukihiro Koretsune,Mariko Kajikawa,Masaharu Kato,Mary Cavaliere,Kazuma Iekushi,Satoshi Yamanaka +12 more
TL;DR: Results from this subgroup analysis suggests that NMCRB might not be a predictive factor for MB, and anemia and concomitant use of antiplatelet therapy were likely predictive factors for bleeding with warfarin and rivaroxaban treatment, respectively.
