Monitoring the Injection of Microscale Zerovalent Iron Particles for Groundwater Remediation by Means of Complex Electrical Conductivity Imaging
Adrián Flores Orozco,Milica Velimirovic,Tiziana Anna Elisabetta Tosco,Andreas Kemna,H. Sapion,Norbert Klaas,Rajandrea Sethi,Leen Bastiaens +7 more
TL;DR: Correlation of the electrical response and geochemical data, in particular the analysis of recovered cores from drilling after the injection, confirmed the migration of particles (and stabilizing solution) to shallow areas through fractures formed during the injection.

Pressure-controlled injection of guar gum stabilized microscale zerovalent iron for groundwater remediation.
Michela Luna,Francesca Gastone,Tiziana Anna Elisabetta Tosco,Rajandrea Sethi,Milica Velimirovic,Johan Gemoets,Rob Muyshondt,H. Sapion,Norbert Klaas,Leen Bastiaens +9 more
TL;DR: A flow regime at the threshold between permeation and preferential flow was selected, as a compromise between the desired homogeneous distribution of the mZVI around the injection point and the fast and effective injection of the slurry, resulting in the generation of preferential flow paths.

Inductive detection and concentration measurement of nano sized zero valent iron in the subsurface
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel approach is presented to detect zero valent iron (nZVI) and measure the concentration of nZVI in-situ during the remediation process.

Development of an inductive concentration measurement sensor of nano sized zero valent iron
Hua Li,Cjestmir De Boer,André Buchau,Norbert Klaas,Wolfgang M. Rucker,Hubert Hermes +5 more
- 20 Mar 2012
TL;DR: An inductive sensor is presented to directly detect and measure the concentration of nZVI in the subsurface using the inductive measurement of magnetic material properties of n ZVI within an alternating magnetic field.

Immobilization of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS): Comparison of leaching behavior by three different leaching tests.
Thomas Bierbaum,Norbert Klaas,Jürgen Braun,Gudrun Nürenberg,Frank Thomas Lange,Claus P. Haslauer +5 more
TL;DR: In this article , the impact of experimental conditions on the leaching behavior of PFAS was studied, and three experiments on different scales were compared: batch, saturated column, and variably saturated laboratory lysimeter experiments.
