Functional polymer-based siRNA delivery carrier that recognizes site-specific biosignals.
TL;DR: Rational strategies for the design of functional polymers with responsiveness to biosignals are explained and examples of smart carriers for siRNA delivery are described.
Sonodynamic Therapy Based on Combined Use of Low Dose Administration of Epirubicin-Incorporating Drug Delivery System and Focused Ultrasound.
Masanori Maeda,Yoshihiro Muragaki,Jun Okamoto,Shin Yoshizawa,Nobutaka Abe,Nakamoto Hidekazu,Hiroshi Ishii,Kenichi Kawabata,Shin-ichiro Umemura,Nobuhiro Nishiyama,Kazunori Kataoka,Hiroshi Iseki +11 more
TL;DR: The present study demonstrated the effectiveness and feasibility of DDS-based SDT, which combined a small dose of NC-6300 and low energy of HIFU in mouse models of colon cancer and pancreatic cancer.
Multifunctional polyion complex micelle featuring enhanced stability, targetability, and endosome escapability for systemic siRNA delivery to subcutaneous model of lung cancer
Hyun Jin Kim,Takehiko Ishii,Meng Zheng,Sumiyo Watanabe,Sumiyo Watanabe,Kazuko Toh,Yu Matsumoto,Nobuhiro Nishiyama,Nobuhiro Nishiyama,Kanjiro Miyata,Kazunori Kataoka +10 more
TL;DR: Significant tumor growth inhibition was achieved by systemic administration of the targeted/stabilized micelle incorporating polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1) siRNA with negligible liver toxicity, consistent with the significant sequence-specific gene silencing of Plk1 in the tumor tissue.
Synthesis of near-infrared absorbing triangular Au nanoplates using biomineralisation peptides.
Masayoshi Tanaka,Mirei Hayashi,Lucien Roach,Yuka Kiriki,Tetsuya Kadonosono,Takahiro Nomoto,Nobuhiro Nishiyama,Jonghoon Choi,Kevin Critchley,Stephen D. Evans,Mina Okochi +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the conditions for preparing triangular Au nanoplates via a one-pot synthetic process of mixing HAuCl4 and peptides at room temperature were investigated to effectively obtain particles possessing near-infrared absorbance for non-invasive optical diagnosis and phototherapy.
Pancreatic cancer therapy by systemic administration of VEGF siRNA contained in calcium phosphate/charge-conversional polymer hybrid nanoparticles
Frederico Pittella,Kanjiro Miyata,Yoshinori Maeda,Tomoya Suma,Sumiyo Watanabe,Qixian Chen,R. James Christie,Kensuke Osada,Nobuhiro Nishiyama,Kazunori Kataoka +9 more
TL;DR: Systemic administration of the nanoparticles carrying vascular endothelium growth factor (VEGF) siRNA led to the significant reduction in the subcutaneous BxPC3 tumor growth, well consistent with the enhanced accumulation of siRNA and the significant VEGF gene silencing in the tumor.
