Nonlinear polarization spectroscopy of ions interaction potential in alkali halide crystals
TL;DR: Anisotropic part of optical cubic nonlinear susceptibility in several alkali halide crystals was measured by new polarization technique and this data were used for defining the role of short-range forces in ions interaction as mentioned in this paper.

TL;DR: In this paper, a classical analog of electromagnetically induced transparency observed in planar metamaterials, structures with vanishing thickness in the direction of wave propagation, is described.
Toroidal optical transitions in hydrogen-like atoms
TL;DR: In this article , a previously unexplored type of spectroscopy of the hitherto largely neglected toroidal dipolar interaction becomes feasible if, apart from the classical r × r × p toroidal density term responsible for the toroidal transitions in metamaterials, the spin-dependent r × σ term is taken into account.

- 03 Jan 2013
TL;DR: In this paper, a thermoelectric metamaterial ring is proposed to transform high frequency optical energy into long duration magnetic radiation pulses in the terahertz range, which can be used for high density magnetic recording, magnetic field spectroscopy, and efficient terAhertz radiation sources.

Specular nonlinear anisotropic polarization effect along fourfold crystal symmetry axes
TL;DR: This work presents what is to their knowledge the first experimental observation of the specular nonlinear anisotropic polarization effect of a pump-induced polarization-plane rotation for normal-incidence reflection from the (001) surface of a cubic crystal.
