Veterinary antimicrobial residues in pork meat in Cyprus: An exposure assessment
Demetra Kyriakides,Irene Panderi,Militsa Hadjigeorgiou,Kalia Christou,Maria Maou,Nikolaos Kavantzas,Andreas C. Lazaris +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that raw pork meat, do not present a potential health risk through its consumption in Cyprus and the estimated daily exposure dose was found to be less than 1.8 μg/kg/day for both men and women above twenty years of age.

Chios mastic gum decreases renin levels and ameliorates vascular remodeling in renovascular hypertensive rats
Aspasia Tzani,Ilias P. Doulamis,Panagiotis Konstantopoulos,Ermioni D. Pasiou,A. Daskalopoulou,Dimitrios C. Iliopoulos,Ioannis Georgiadis,Nikolaos Kavantzas,Stavros K. Kourkoulis,Despina Perrea +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that a BP lowering effect of CMG via down-regulation of renin excretion associated with attenuation of target organ damage and inflammatory status is suggested, which could possibly translate to further clinical research.

Significance of nuclear morphometry as a diagnostic tool in fine-needle aspirates of the liver.
TL;DR: The three most important cytological criteria of nuclear malignancy (hyperchromasia, enlargement and anisonucleosis), when quantified by morphometry, may be helpful in the differential diagnosis between non‐cancerous liver lesions and HCCs (even those of high differentiation), since all the morphometric data showed pronounced differences between malignant and benign groups.

Morphometric microvascular characteristics in the prognosis of pancreatic and ampullary carcinoma.
George Giannopoulos,Nikolaos Kavantzas,Aikaterini Parasi,Dina Tiniakos,George Peros,Nikolaos Tzanakis,Efstratios Patsouris,Kitty Pavlakis +7 more
TL;DR: In pancreatic ductal carcinoma patients, the assessment of MVD and several morphometric microvascular characteristics provides significant prognostic information and the biologic behavior of the ampullary carcinomas does not seem to be dependent on any of the above mentioned factors of angiogenesis.

Evaluation of machine learning techniques for prostate cancer diagnosis and Gleason grading
Eleni Alexandratou,Vassilis Atlamazoglou,Trias Thireou,George Agrogiannis,Dimitrios Togas,Nikolaos Kavantzas,Efstratios Patsouris,Dido Yova +7 more
- 01 Feb 2010
TL;DR: 16 supervised machine learning algorithms were compared based on their performance on prostate cancer diagnosis and Gleason grading and logistic regression and sequential minimal optimisation for training a support vector machine were among the four top scoring algorithms.
