The magnetic response of graphene split-ring metamaterials
Nikitas Papasimakis,Sukosin Thongrattanasiri,Nikolay I. Zheludev,Nikolay I. Zheludev,F. J. García de Abajo,F. J. García de Abajo +5 more
TL;DR: Papasimakis et al. as mentioned in this paper predicted a strong magnetic dipole response by graphene split nanorings at THz frequencies, allowing the attainment of metamaterials with a high degree of field confinement (approximately one hundredth of the excitation wavelength) that is not reachable with conventional noble metals.
Supertoroidal light pulses as electromagnetic skyrmions propagating in free space.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a family of supertoroidal light pulses that exhibit skyrmionic topological structure flying in free space, and they are of interest for transient light-matter interactions, ultrafast optics, spectroscopy, and toroidal electrodynamics.

Observation of Toroidal Pulses of Light
Apostolos Zdagkas,Yijie Shen,Cormac McDonnell,Junhong Deng,Guixin Li,Tal Ellenbogen,Nikitas Papasimakis,Nikolay I. Zheludev +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, Toroidal Light Pulses (TLPs) have been generated and characterized from tailored nanostructured metasurfaces comprising toroidal emitters, which can be used for experimental studies of energy and information transfer with TLPs, their space-time entanglement, and their light-matter interactions involving anapoles, localized space time entangled excitations, skyrmions and toroidal qubits.

Many-Body Subradiant Excitations in Metamaterial Arrays: Experiment and Theory
Stewart D. Jenkins,Janne Ruostekoski,Nikitas Papasimakis,Salvatore Savo,Nikolay I. Zheludev,Nikolay I. Zheludev +5 more
TL;DR: Strong evidence is identified for classically correlated multimetamolecule subradiant states that dominate the total excitation energy in planar metamaterial arrays as a spatially extended eigenmode comprising over 1000 metamolecules.

Nonlinear graphene metamaterial
A.E. Nikolaenko,Nikitas Papasimakis,Evangelos Atmatzakis,Zhiqiang Luo,Zexiang Shen,Francesco De Angelis,Stuart A. Boden,Enzo Di Fabrizio,Nikolay I. Zheludev +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the broadband nonlinear optical response of graphene can be resonantly enhanced by hybridization with a plasmonic metamaterial, while retaining an ultrafast nonlinear response time of ~1 ps.
