Measuring personality from keyboard and mouse use
Iftikhar Ahmed Khan,Willem-Paul Brinkman,Nick Fine,Robert M. Hierons +3 more
- 16 Jan 2008
TL;DR: The results suggest that some of the main traits and sub traits of personality can be measured from keyboard and mouse use and personality trait activity level was found to be significantly correlated with behavioural measure 'standard deviation of average time between events' in both studies.
Towards customized emotional design: an explorative study of user personality and user interface skin preferences
Willem-Paul Brinkman,Nick Fine +1 more
- 29 Sep 2005
TL;DR: This paper presents two explorative studies on user personality in relation to skin preferences, suggesting colour and similarity-attraction as two possible underlying factors for the correlations found between personality traits and skin preferences.
Avoiding Average: Recording Interaction Data to Design for Specific User Groups
Nick Fine,Willem-Paul Brinkman +1 more
- 01 Sep 2004
TL;DR: The PROSKIN project is developing an empirical tool for quantitative capture, description and analysis of interactive behaviour in a non-invasive and situated context to identify user groups by distinguishing behaviour or trait which will allow designers to develop more personally relevant user interfaces.
Informing intelligent environments: creating profiled user interfaces
Nick Fine,Willem-Paul Brinkman +1 more
- 08 Nov 2004
TL;DR: The design and development of a research environment is discussed to support the PROSKIN project, which is researching whether subsets of users can be identified and grouped by distinguishing interactive behaviours so that a more personally optimised interaction can be designed.
