Capital flows and institutional quality: a systematic literature review
TL;DR: The drivers of capital flows include institutional quality, capital market frictions, and type of flow. Institutional quality and frictions are important drivers of foreign direct investment and portfolio debt, while distance, economic ties, and shared language, border, and colonial past are key factors influencing all three types of capital flows.
