Design of a Helical-Stabilized, Cyclic, and Nontoxic Analogue of the Peptide Cm-p5 with Improved Antifungal Activity.
Fidel E. Morales Vicente,Fidel E. Morales Vicente,Melaine González-García,Erbio Diaz Pico,Elena Moreno-Castillo,Hilda Garay,Pablo E. Rosi,Asiel Mena Jimenez,Jose A Campos-Delgado,Daniel G. Rivera,Glay Chinea,Rosemeire Cristina Linhari Rodrigues Pietro,Steffen Stenger,Barbara Spellerberg,Dennis Kubiczek,Nicholas Bodenberger,Steffen Dietz,Frank Rosenau,Márcio W. Paixão,Ludger Ständker,Anselmo J. Otero-González +20 more
- 05 Nov 2019
TL;DR: Due to its increased capacity for fungal control compared to fluconazole, its low cytotoxicity, together with a stabilized α-helix and disulfide bridges, and in vivo activity, the new cyclic Cm-p5 monomer represents a potential systemic antifungal therapeutic candidate.

Quantification of the Immunosuppressant Tacrolimus on Dried Blood Spots Using LC-MS/MS.
Touraj Shokati,Nicholas Bodenberger,Holly Gadpaille,Björn Schniedewind,Alexander A. Vinks,Wenlei Jiang,Rita R. Alloway,Uwe Christians +7 more
TL;DR: Tacrolimus is stable in dried blood spots at RT and at +4 °C for 1 week and its accuracy and accuracy as assessed over 20 days meet acceptance criteria.

A Cerberus‐Inspired Anti‐Infective Multicomponent Gatekeeper Hydrogel against Infections with the Emerging “Superbug” Yeast Candida auris
Dennis Kubiczek,Carolin Flaig,Heinz Fabian Raber,Steffen Dietz,Ann-Kathrin Kissmann,Thomas Heerde,Nicholas Bodenberger,Andreas Wittgens,Melaine González-García,Fan Kang,Octavio L. Franco,Octavio L. Franco,Ludger Staendker,Anselmo J. Otero-González,Paul Walther,Kay E. Gottschalk,Tanja Weil,Frank Rosenau,Frank Rosenau +18 more
TL;DR: Inspired by Cerberus the Greek mythological "hound of Hades" that prevents the living from entering and the dead from leaving hell, the preparation of a gatekeeper hybrid hydrogel is reported featuring lectin-mediated high-affinity immobilization of C. auris cells in combination with a release of an antifungal peptide drug to kill the trapped cells.
The Diversity of a Polyclonal FluCell-SELEX Library Outperforms Individual Aptamers as Emerging Diagnostic Tools for the Identification of Carbapenem Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Dennis Kubiczek,Heinz Fabian Raber,Nicholas Bodenberger,Thomas Oswald,Melis Sahan,Daniel Mayer,Sebastian Wiese,Steffen Stenger,Tanja Weil,Frank Rosenau,Frank Rosenau +10 more
TL;DR: The library outperformed single aptamers in reliable and specific targeting of different clinically relevant strains, allowed to inhibit virulence associated cellular functions and identification of bound cell surface targets by aptamer based affinity purification and mass spectrometry.

FluCell-SELEX Aptamers as Specific Binding Molecules for Diagnostics of the Health Relevant Gut Bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila.
Heinz Fabian Raber,Dennis Kubiczek,Nicholas Bodenberger,Nicholas Bodenberger,Ann-Kathrin Kissmann,Deena D’souza,Hu Xing,Daniel Mayer,Pengfei Xu,Uwe Knippschild,Barbara Spellerberg,Tanja Weil,Frank Rosenau +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the development of DNA aptamers as the first high affinity binding molecules available for fast and rapid labeling of the human gut bacterium Akkermansia muciniphila with a certain impact on Alzheimer´s disease.
