Organizational Knowledge Facilitation through Communities of Practice in Emerging Markets

In the Internet of Things (IoT) area, the increase of data leads to the "Big data'' problem. The traditional relational database (RDB) is not being able to deal with processing big data. In contrast, the Not only SQL (NoSQL) database was created to deal with big data problems. Therefore, most organizations need to convert their data stored in RDB systems into NoSQL using flexible models and processes. Most research into the conversion of RDBs into newer database systems has concentrated on schemata transformation, RDB data publishing, whereas other little work focuses on data migration. This paper proposes an automatic approach to convert a database implemented in MySQL database management system into an equivalent database for the target MongoDB system, which is a leading NoSQL database system. This method can handle a large amount of existing data in RDBs without any loss or changes in data semantics and data instances. The solution takes an existing RDB as input, extracts its schema, and then analyzes the schema in an array to be converted with data instances according to the NoSQL target database structure. A system of the proposed approach has been designed. An experimental study was performed to evaluate the proposed approach. The experimental results show that the target database generated by the prototype and the target database generated by other methods were comparable and equivalent.

Converting Relational Database to Document-Oriented NoSQL Cloud Database

Abstract During object-relational database physical structure design, problems are caused by three factors: ambiguity of transformations of conceptual model, multiplicity of quality assessment criteria, and a lack of constructive model. In the present study a constructive hierarchical model of physical database structure has been developed. Implementations are used in XML, SQL and Java languages. Multi-criterial structure optimisation method has also been developed. Structure variation space is generated using transformation rule database. Prototype has been implemented within the framework of the research.

In linear programming, the transportation problem is one of the most important and successful applications of quantitative analysis for solving business problems in products distribution. Basically, the aim is to minimize the cost of shipping goods from one location to another, so that the needs of each arrival area are met and every shipping location operates within its capacity. This paper presents a solution for transportation problem using computing modelling. A mathematical model is developed using a given transportation tableau. According to this mathematical model, a unified algorithm is developed, and implemented as a software program that computes different mathematical methods to find optimal solutions for transportation problems. This is because the manual solutions incorporate many complicated calculations, which may encounter several mistakes and consume time and efforts. Economically, such a solution could provide companies and factories with the ability to transfer their goods and products from supply centers to demand centers in the lowest cost. The solution might help companies to work on increasing or decreasing production of some items according to the relationship between the demand and supply quantities. A program has been designed and tested with different cases, where its output results were accurate and justified when compared by manual calculations.

An optimal solution for transportation problem using computing modelling

Object-relational technology provides a significant increase in scalability and flexibility over the traditional relational databases. The additional object-relational features are particularly satisfying for advanced database applications that relational database systems have experienced difficulties. The key factor to the success of object-relational database systems is their performance. This paper aims to review the promises of Object-Relational database systems, examine the reality, and how their promises may be fulfilled through unification with the relational technology. To investigate the performance implications of using object-relational relative to relational technology, the query-oriented BUCKY benchmark has been previously applied to an early object-relational database system, i.e., Illustra 97. This paper presents the results obtained from implementing and running the BUCKY benchmark on Oracle 10g. The results acquired from the work described in this paper are compared with the results obtained in BUCKY benchmark. This study throws light on the functionality of object-relational databases, where object-relational technology has made improvements but some limitations are identified as well. In general, the performance of relational supersedes that of object-relational database system.
