Southwestern region of Bangladesh is very rich in floral diversity, and their diversified uses. An extensive survey was conducted to investigate ethnobotanical applications of botanical species by the community of Khulna, Bangladesh. We focused on plants and community relationships, identify the most important species used, determine the relative importance of the species surveyed and calculated the Fidelity level (FI) and Cultural Significance Index (CSI) concerning individual species. In total, we have listed 136 species of 114 genera under 52 families, of which 41% (63) species were utilized as food, followed by  30% (45) medicine, 14% (21) constructional timber, 11% (17) ornamental, and 4% (6) other uses. Inheritance of traditional knowledge of medicinal plants was the primary source of knowledge acquisition through oral transmission over the generations. However, only 34% of the informants were traditional herbal practitioners. Most of the medicinal uses are primly associated with anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, antiseptic, expectorant, antidote, fever reduction, and pain relief.

Indigenous knowledge of plant uses by the community of Batiaghata, Khulna, Bangladesh

This study aims to analyze the phytochemical and antimicrobial-related assays including antibacterial, antifungal, antipellicle, and antibiofilm potential of the root of an alpine medicinal plant ( Arnebia euchroma (Royle) I.M.Johnst). Ethanolic, methyl acetate, chloroform, and aqueous extracts of root parts of the A. euchroma plant were prepared. The active metabolites of the root part of the plant were evaluated both qualitatively and quantitatively by GC-MS and HPLC techniques, using ethanolic extract. The antimicrobial potential of A. euchroma was investigated using crude extract, fractions, and AgNP s of the A. euchroma root against two Gram-positive bacteria ( Enterococcus, Staphylococcus aureus ) four Gram-negative bacteria ( Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris ) and five fungal strains ( Rhizoctonia, Cuneate fasciculus, Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum , and Candida auris ). Phytochemical Screening, Antimicrobial,
Antipellicle and Antibiofilm Activities of the Root
of Alpine Medicinal Plant (Arnebia euchroma
(Royle) I.M.Johnst.)

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a major health challenge in Morocco. This study aimed to provide ethnobotanical information on the use of medicinal plants (MPs) for managing diabetes in the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region. Methods: A semi-structured questionnaire was used, targeting diabetic patients from healthcare facilities in four cities (Rabat, Salé, Kenitra and Khemisset) of the study region. Quantitative ethnobotanical indices were used, including relative frequency of citation, fidelity level, and informant consensus factor. Chi-square tests were used to analyse socio-demographic data and ethnobotanical survey results. Results: Among 2086 diabetic patients, 49.14% used medicinal plants with 85.17% having type 2 diabetes. A total of 82 MPs from 38 botanical families were recorded, with Olea europaea L., Trigonella foenum-graecum L. and Salvia officinalis L. being the most frequently used plants. Some plants were used specifically for type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes. A total of 59 plant mixtures were documented, with one specific mixture mentioned by five patients, all employing identical quantities and preparation methods. Leaves (47.32%) and seeds (30.50%) were the most used plant parts. MPs were mainly taken orally (99.41%) as infusions (47.37%). Conclusions: This study is considered rare since it focuses on the ethnobotanical knowledge held by patients in healthcare facilities. Some plants were newly identified as plants used for diabetes, whether in Morocco or internationally, extending the list of known antidiabetic plants. Further pharmacological research is recommended to validate the antidiabetic properties and the safety of used plants. District Charsadda is a very important center of plant biodiversity in the central plain of Peshawar valley, Pakistan. The present study was carried out during March 2015 to April 2016 to investigate the ethnobotanical profile of common weed flora present in district Charsadda, KP, Pakistan. The study revealed that there were 40 weed species belonging to 21 families. Among them 25 weeds were annual herb, 9 weeds were perennial herb, three were annual grass, one was climbing herb, one was the parasitic weed, and one was rhizomatic grass. The dominant families were Asteraceae, Fabaceae and poaceae having 5 species (12.5%) each followed by Ranunculaceae 3 species (7.5%). plants were systematically arranged into botanical names, local names, families, habit, habitat, partly used, flowering periods, locality and ethnobotanical uses. The main aim of the study is the documentation and ethnobotanical information of the weed flora growing in the area.
