Introduction The source of scientific information, methods for their evaluation, and methodology of their use are critical for serious scientific research and publishing of the scientific research results. Certain methodological principles should be inexcusably followed when designing clinical or observational research to avoid bias and presentation of results that do not reflect the truth about the phenomenon that is the object of the study. Aim The aim of this study was to compare the methodological quality of clinical trials and observational studies published in medical journals from ex-Yugoslav countries indexed in Web of Science (WoS) and Pubmed/MEDLINE. Methods Clinical studies published in medical journals of ex-Yugoslav countries were retrieved from the WoS and Pubmed database, and the sample for analysis was randomly chosen from the retrieved publications. The rate of the most common errors in the design of clinical/observational studies was established by a careful reading of the sampled publications and their checking against predefined criteria. Results Number and percent of the evaluated studies that failed to meet each of the methodological criteria tested, number of the evaluated criteria not satisfied per database and number of studies that satisfied more than 4 criteria were analyzed per database. When explanatory potential of journal impact factor, number of citations, time elapsed from publication and a database where a journal is referred were tested by linear regression in regard to the number of methodological criteria satisfied per study, the linear regression model was obtained by backward deletion method and achieved R2 adjusted of 0.166 (F=13.827, df1 = 2, df2 = 127, p=0.000). The methodological quality of studies was directly related to impact factor of the journals (B = 0.976, 95% confidence interval 0.539 - 1.413, p=0.000) and inversely with the database where a journal is referred (B =-0.444, 95% confidence interval-0.824 - -0.064, p = 0.022). Each additional unit of impact factor increased number of satisfied methodological criteria for about 1, while referring a journal only in WoS decreased number of satisfied criteria for 0.45 points in comparison with journals referred in both WoS and Pubmed/MEDLINE, and for 0.9 points in comparison to journals referred only in MEDLINE. Conclusion Methodological and scientometric quality of clinical studies published in medical journals from ex-Yugoslav region varies significantly, and the variations are higher in journals referenced only in WoS than in journals referenced in Pubmed/MEDLINE only, or in both Pubmed and Web of Science databases.

Purpose This study determined the effects of interprofessional education (IPE) on self-efficacy and attitude by comparing an interprofessional (IP) group of medical students (MSs) and nursing students (NSs) and a uniprofessional (UP) group of MSs. Methods An experimental IP group consisting of 49 MSs and 62 NSs was selected, alongside a UP control group of 48 other MSs. The groups participated in a class titled "Team Communication and Interprofessional Collaboration." A sub-analysis of the two groups' professions was also conducted. The groups participated in the same lesson separately, with a week's interval. The Interprofessional Attitudes Scale (IPAS) and the Self-Efficacy Perception for Interprofessional Experiential Learning (SEIEL) scale were used before and after the class to compare changes in reports of self-efficacy and attitudes in both groups. Students' responses to learning experiences and satisfaction were also evaluated. Results IPAS and SEIEL values increased after the class for MSs in both groups; there were no differences between the groups. IPAS and SEIEL values increased after the class in MSs and NSs in the IP group, and the effect size for IPAS was larger for IP-group NSs than for IP-group MSs. Satisfaction scores exceeded 3.70 in both groups. Conclusion The UP group showed similar IPE effects as the IP group, as measured by SEIEL and IPAS, in a single IPE program that used role-play and case-based discussion. However, it would be desirable for the UP group to interact with other professions to improve understanding and experience.

Revisao Sistematica exploratoria, declarada como Scoping review pela Joanna Briggs Institute -JBI-, na qual se realizou uma busca em bases de dados de Embase, Science direct, Pubmed-Medline, Academic search complete, BVS, Scopus e ERIC, limitando entre 2009-2019 utilizando os termos DeCS e MeSH de Interprofessional education, education research, healthcare professionals, nursing and medicine. Se selecionaram 39 artigos originais apos de realizado o processo de critica com os criterios de JBI. Resultados. Emergiram quatro nucleos tematicos: Experiencias e percepcoes da aprendizagem interprofissional, Didaticas vinculadas a EIP, Indicadores empiricos relacionados com a EIP e Desenvolvimento de competencias profissionais. O maior nivel de evidencia o apresentam os artigos sobre emprego de didaticas; pelo contrario, nao se encontraram artigos que trataram tematicas relacionadas com a inclusao precoce de EIP nos curriculos de enfermagem e medicina, sendo atualmente necessarios para complementar o enfoque de atencao centrada no paciente. This work sought to know the state of the art related to the theme of Interprofessional Education (IPE) in the training of Nursing and Medical students and the level of evidence developed thus far. Methods. This was an exploratory systematic review, declared as scoping review by the Joanna Briggs Institute, JBI, in which a search was performed in Embase, Science direct, Pubmed-Medline, Academic search complete, BVS, Scopus and ERIC databases, limiting between 2009 - 2019 by using the DeCS and MeSH terms of Interprofessional education, education research, healthcare professionals, nursing and medicine, selecting 39 original articles after carrying out the review process with the criteria by the JBI. Results. Four thematic nuclei emerged: Experiences and perceptions of interprofessional learning, Didactics related with IPE, Empirical indicators related with IPE, and Development of professional skills. The highest level of evidence is presented by the articles dealing with didactics; on the contrary, no articles were found that dealt with topics related with early inclusion of IPE in the medical and nursing curricula, which are currently necessary to complement the focus of patient-centered care. Conclusion. The thematic nuclei show that the level of evidence in the literature is varied, although mostly descriptive in scope, highlighting the development of professional skills as a result of interprofessional education.

Formation in Interprofessional Education in Nursing and Medical Students Globally. Scoping review

Aim: This study aimed to determine nurses’ attitudes toward job satisfaction and to describe the variables that affect their job satisfaction. Design: A non-experimental, cross-sectional study. Methods: A total of 1,850 nurses working in clinical hospital centres in Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia were approached. Of those, 475 participated in the study, making a total response rate of 25.6%. Data were collected through the Survey of Nursing Satisfaction. The questionnaire is owned by the Croatian Agency for Quality and Accreditation in Health Care and Social Welfare. Results: The overall results for all three countries show that men and women differed in their perception of exposure to discrimination at work (t = 2.62; df = 469; p < 0.01). Men, on average, were more satisfied at work (M = 3.47; SD = 0.68; p < 0.05) than women (M = 3.29; SD = 0.63; p < 0.05). Nurses in the Croatian hospital were the most satisfied with the amount of education they were exposed to (F2.470 = 18.09; p < 0.001) but felt more discriminated against at work than their counterparts from Slovenia and Serbia (F2.471 = 136.04; p < 0.001). Respondents rated their job satisfaction as good. Conclusion: In line with the findings, nurses should be able to move forward, improve communication and interpersonal relationships to be even more comfortable in the workplace. Each institution has quality indicators and it is very important to continuously conduct employee satisfaction surveys as these are beneficial for the staff, patients and healthcare quality.

Job satisfaction of nurses in Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia: a cross-sectional study

Objectives . Interprofessional teamwork is best attained through education that promotes mutual trust and effective communication. The primary aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of interprofessional learning on knowledge about diabetes. Methods . The cross-sectional study included students of medicine, dentistry and nursing at the Faculty of Medicine Foca, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The students were randomly allocated into one of two groups. Group 1 attended an interprofessional course on diabetes while group 2 was divided into three subgroups and each of the subgroups attended an uniprofessional diabetes course. The measuring instrument used in the course in order to assess the participants’ knowledge about diabetic care was a test containing multiple-choice questions about diabetes. The Interprofessional Questionnaire was used to explore the attitudes, views, values and beliefs of students regarding interprofessional education (IPE). Results . No statistically significant difference in total score on the test was found between the groups at baseline, but at follow-up the difference was highly statistically significant (F=10.87; p=0.002). The students from Group 1 had better results (21.82 points), compared to Group 2 (18.77 points). The statistically significant difference was observed in mean values (t=-3.997; p=0.001), between Groups 1 and 2; the students from Group 1 obtained 20.42 points, which is considered to indicate a respectively positive self-assessment of communication and teamwork skills. However, Group 2 indicated a negative self-assessment of communication and teamwork skills. Conclusion . The findings suggest that IPE activities may provide health profession students with valuable collaborative learning opportunities.

Procena kvaliteta života je složena i može se zasnivati na razlicitom setu indikatora, koji se mogu razlikovati među zemljama, kao i među regionalno-ekonomskim integracijama i organizacijama. Introduction: Lung cancer is often a malignant disease and one of the leading causes of death. It hes been the most common malignant disease in male population for years and has also become more frequent in fe male population. Health care and emotional support to these patients is of considerable inportance. If one of the family members is diagnosed with this disease, the family often experience problems overcomeing and understanding their own reactions in that situation. The aim of this study was to investigate to which extend the patients are informed about their disease.the awareness of patients about their disease, as well as to examine how wich family members are willing to support a sick member of their family. Methods: The study included patients suffering from lung cancer who were admitted to the Oncology Department of the University Clinical Centre in Foca for chemotherapy. After the end of the treatment patients were discharged to home health care treatment. During the home visits, patients and familiy members were interviewed. The sample consisted of N = 18 patients, and N = 18 their family members who cared for the patient at home. Patients were interviewed by means of anonymous questionnaire, and the results are displayed graphically. Results: The results showed that the respondents were quite well informed about their disease, although it sometimes happened that they did not sufficiently understand well enough given information. Half of the respondents (50% of them) were not adequately informed about the side effects of chemotherapy. Two-thirds (78%) of the family members were willing to support a sick family member, and even up to 34% of them where reluctant to seek help from health professionals. Conclusion: It is believed that knowledge and information on the character and severity of the disease significantly contribute to easier acceptance of the diagnosis and encourage the patient to active participation in their own treatment. Since the health care of lung cancer sufferers is complex , nurses should be educated enough keeping pace with technological development (diagnostics, therapy, emotional support, health education, work integration and reintegration of the patient in the corresponding group and environment).

Introduction. Satisfaction with work and experiencing positive emotions at work is considered to be an important part of nursing professional life, and has a significant impact on patient safety, the quality of services provided, commitment and stay in the organization and profession. The aim of this paper was to examine the level of satisfaction with the work of nurses. Material and methods. The research is designed according to the type of cross section study. The research sample consisted of 200 nurses working at the University Hospital Foca, the Health Center Zvornik and the Health Center Istocno Sarajevo. The instruments used in this in research are: sociodemographic questionnaire and the Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS). Statistical analysis of data was made using the SPSS software statistical package. Of the statistical tests was used χ2-square test. As a level of statistical significance, the difference was taken as the usual value of p <0.05. Results. Statistically significant negative correlation was established between satisfaction with the work and socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents (r = -0,252; p = 0,017). The prospects for improvement are satisfied with 25% of the respondents, 37% had an ambivalent attitude, while 38% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction. Twenty-three percent of respondents are satisfied with communication in the organization of work, 35% are ambivalent, while 42% of respondents are dissatisfied. 21% of the respondents expressed satisfaction with the benefits and on the rewards for a well-done job, 45% were ambivalent, while 34% of the respondents were dissatisfied. Conclusion. The lowest ratings of our respondents in wage domains, rewards for well-designed work and working conditions are probably the result of the economic climate in which lives and works, fixed and inadequate wages and minimum benefits combined with the nature of the work.

Proces nutritivne njege mora da bude kontinuiran, a procjena nutritivnog statusa, otkrivanje faktora rizika za malnutriciju i pravovremena primjena odgovarajuceg lijecenja doprinose smanjenju morbiditeta, mortaliteta, troskova lijecenja i poboljsanju kvaliteta života starih osoba.
