Natural rubber formulation methodologies implemented within industry primarily implicate a high dependence on the formulator’s experience as it involves an educated guess-and-check process. The formulator must leverage their experience to ensure that the number of iterations to the final blend composition is minimized. The study presented in this paper includes the implementation of blend formulation methodology that targets material properties relevant to the application in which the product will be used by incorporating predictive models, including linear regression, response surface method (RSM), artificial neural networks (ANNs), and Gaussian process regression (GPR). Training of such models requires data, which is equal to financial resources in industry. To ensure minimum experimental effort, the dataset is kept small, and the model complexity is kept simple, and as a proof of concept, the predictive models are used to reverse engineer a current material used in the footwear industry based on target viscoelastic properties (relaxation behavior, tanδ, and hardness), which all depend on the amount of crosslinker, plasticizer, and the quantity of voids used to create the lightweight high-performance material. RSM, ANN, and GPR result in prediction accuracy of 90%, 97%, and 100%, respectively. It is evident that the testing accuracy increases with algorithm complexity; therefore, these methodologies provide a wide range of tools capable of predicting compound formulation based on specified target properties, and with a wide range of complexity.

Natural Rubber Blend Optimization via Data-Driven Modeling: The Implementation for Reverse Engineering

Fluororubber composites: preparation methods, vulcanization mechanisms, and the associated properties

Lalat tentara hitam atau Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Hermetia illucens merupakan serangga biokonverter yang mampu mengubah berbagai jenis sampah organik menjadi biomassa larva yang dapat dimanfaatkan salah satunya sebagai pakan ternak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan hasil biomassa larva BSF yang ditanam pada limbah kulit ari kedelai dan kulit pisang. Percobaan terdiri dari enam perlakuan yang diuji yaitu fermentasi dan non-fermentasi dari tiga substrat yaitu kulit ari kedelai, kulit pisang, dan pakan ayam sebagai kontrol. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap hari dengan parameter kinerja pertumbuhan yang terukur meliputi tingkat konsumsi substrat (D), indeks pengurangan limbah (WRI), efisiensi konversi pakan yang dicerna (ECD), waktu pengembangan dan durasi makan, tingkat kelangsungan hidup, prapupa biomassa, dan rasio jenis kelamin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai WRI pada sekam kedelai (difermentasi atau tidak) tidak berbeda nyata dengan pakan ayam (kontrol) (P>0,05). Larva BSF yang diberi makan kulit pisang memiliki nilai ECD tertinggi, yaitu 37,58%. Sedangkan larva yang diberi pakan ayam fermentasi menghasilkan bobot biomassa prapupa tertinggi, yaitu 32,6 mg. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kulit ari kedelai memiliki pengaruh yang sama dengan pakan ayam terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan larva BSF.

Karakterisasi Proses Vulkanisasi Minyak Jarak Kastor dan Evaluasi Mutu Hasil Faktis Cokelat

Green bean sprout waste is obtained from its production with the basic ingredients and sellers. This waste product is one of the potential ingredients in broiler chicken ration and a source of vegetable protein. However, the fiber and protein contents of bean sprouts are high, and therefore need to be fermented to improve digestibility and nutritional quality. This research, therefore, aims to determine the nutrient content of broiler chicken rations in the finisher phase containing fermented bean sprouts waste flour by proximate analysis in the laboratory. This study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments consisted of rations without fermented bean sprouts waste flour (TLTF) (P0), 3% TLTF (P1), 6% TLTF (P2), and 9% TLTF (P3). The variables analyzed were crude protein, fiber, and fat of the ration. The results of this study showed that the provision of fermented bean sprouts wastes flour for broiler chicken ration in the finisher phase significantly affected (P <0.05) the variables of protein, fiber, and fat. In conclusion, an increase of crude protein and fiber in broiler chicken rations with 6% TLTF was the closest to the standard requirement in the finisher phase.

Chemical Quality of Broiler Chicken Rations in Finisher Phase Containing Fermented Bean Sprout Waste Flour

This research aims to study the mechanical properties of natural rubber composites with nitrile butadiene rubber and ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber. Composite fillers consisted of kaolin, and softener using used cooking oil. The study was carried out by the method of mastication, vulcanization, and maturation of the compound into rubber vulcanizates. The vulcanization and mastication process is carried out in the open mill. The maturation of the compound into rubber vulcanizates from the results of mastication and vulcanization was carried out using semi-automatic heat press and press at a temperature of 130 °C ± 2 °C for 17 min. Based on data from testing the mechanical properties of five samples from five formulas, the mechanical properties of composite rubber are affected by the ratio of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, kaolin, and used cooking oil as a softener. The difference in the results of vulcanizates rubber testing of natural rubber composites with synthetic rubber is not only influenced by the ratio of the composite, but also by the degree of cross-linking between the material molecules.

This research aims to study the nutritional content of chicken feed is sourced from local feedstuffs, Local feed ingredients used in this study are wheat bran, rice bran, tofu waste, fish meal, shellfish flour, cornstarch and salt. Feed ingredient is formulated in accordance with nutrient adequacy ratio, then from some formula steamed, rolled with a rolling pin and dried fish. Pellet feed testing including moisture content, protein content, fat content, ash content, calcium content, and phosphorus levels. Tests on the feed from several treatment SNI 01-3931-2006 using method of feeding broiler final period (broiler finisher). Results of laboratory testing of food to feed formula B with 25 g of wheat bran, rice bran 19 g, 12 g flour tofu waste, fish meal 17 g, 5 g shellfish flour, corn flour 20 g, 2 g salt and water content of  7,640% yield, 22,850% of protein, fat 6,114%, 6,320% ash, calcium 0,914% and 0,817% phosphorus. For these parameters meet the requirements of SNI 01-3931-2006 broiler feed the final period (Broiler finisher).
