Hepatitis B virus X protein transactivates human interleukin-8 gene through acting on nuclear factor kB and CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein-like cis-elements.
Yann Mahe,Naofumi Mukaida,Kouji Kuno,Mariko Akiyama,Naoki Ikeda,Koji Matsushima,Seishi Murakami +6 more
TL;DR: It is established here that both nuclear factor kB and CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein-like cis-elements located at -94 to -71 base pairs of IL-8 gene are essential and sufficient for the induction of the IL- 8 gene by HBV-X.

Novel insight into molecular mechanism of endotoxin shock: biochemical analysis of LPS receptor signaling in a cell-free system targeting NF-kappaB and regulation of cytokine production/action through beta2 integrin in vivo.
Naofumi Mukaida,Yuji Ishikawa,Naoki Ikeda,Nakaba Fujioka,Shun Ichi Watanabe,Kouji Kuno,Koji Matsushima +6 more
TL;DR: In vivo administration of an anti‐CD18 antibody and an antibody to a ligand for CD18, intercellular adhesion molecule‐1, also prevented TNF‐induced shock as well as endotoxin shock in rabbits, suggesting that the interaction between leukoytes and endothelium through β2.

Prevention of endotoxin shock by an antibody against leukocyte integrin beta 2 through inhibiting production and action of TNF.
Shun-ichi Watanabe,Naofumi Mukaida,Naoki Ikeda,Mariko Akiyama,Akihisa Harada,Isao Nakanishi,Hideo Nariuchi,Yoh Watanabe,Kouji Matsushima +8 more
TL;DR: It is reported that administration of an antibody against CD18 dramatically reduced endotoxin-induced shock in rabbits as revealed by prevention of severe hypotension, metabolic acidosis and a pathological change suggestive of disseminated intravascular coagulation with concomitant inhibition of elevation of plasma TNF activity.

Involvement of IL-10, an anti-inflammatory cytokine in murine liver injury induced by Concanavalin A
TL;DR: Results suggest that IL-10 has inhibitory effect on liver injury in a murine model of Con A-induced experimental liver injury mediated by cellular immunity.

Immunohistochemical study of p53, c-erbB-2, and PCNA in barrett's esophagus with dysplasia and adenocarcinoma arising from experimental acid or alkaline reflux model.
Yukimitsu Kawaura,Yasuhiko Tatsuzawa,Tokio Wakabayashi,Naoki Ikeda,Mitsuru Matsuda,Shougo Nishihara +5 more
TL;DR: The results of this study provided evidence of the dysplasia-carcinoma sequence arising from alkaline reflux, as well as from acid reflux.
