TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined whether long-term health-related quality-of-life (HRQL) differs with the occurrence and severity of complications in a European multicenter prospective dataset of patients following esophagectomy for cancer.
History and evidence for state of the art of lymphadenectomy in esophageal cancer surgery.
TL;DR: This review describes the development of lymphadenectomy, followed by a summary of current evidence forymphadenectomy in esophageal cancer treatment, and describes the distribution pattern of lymph node metastases in esophileal cancer.

Health-related quality of life following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy versus perioperative chemotherapy and esophagectomy for esophageal cancer: a European multicenter study
Nannet Schuring,Sheraz R. Markar,E R C Hagens,E Jezerskyte,M. A. G. Sprangers,Pernilla Lagergren,Asif Johar,Suzanne S. Gisbertz,Mark I. van Berge Henegouwen +8 more
TL;DR: The observed differences in long-term HRQL are in favor of patientstreated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy compared with patients treated with perioperative chemotherapy; however, the differences were small.

Patterns of recurrent disease after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and esophageal cancer surgery with curative intent in a tertiary referral center.
Nannet Schuring,Wessel T. Stam,Victor D. Plat,Marianne C. Kalff,Maarten C.C.M. Hulshof,H.W.M. van Laarhoven,Sarah Derks,D.L. van der Peet,M. I. van Berge Henegouwen,Freek Daams,Suzanne S. Gisbertz +10 more
TL;DR: Recurrent disease after potentially curative treatment for esophageal cancer was most frequently located distantly, with dismal prognosis; a subgroup of patients with loco-regional recurrence was treated with curative intent and had prolonged survival.

The effect of anastomotic leakage on the incidence of recurrence after tri‐modality therapy for esophageal adenocarcinomas
Wessel T. Stam,Nannet Schuring,Maarten C.C.M. Hulshof,Hanneke W. M. van Laarhoven,Sarah Derks,Mark I. van Berge Henegouwen,Donald L. van der Peet,Suzanne S. Gisbertz,Freek Daams +8 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors investigated the incidence and pattern of recurrence and secondary median recurrence free interval and post-recurrence survival in patients with and without anastomotic leakage after multimodal therapy for esophageal adenocarcinoma.
