TL;DR: Cell biological analysis of the protein product suggests a function in regulating development of the mammary gland and genetic analysis identifies the HMMR gene as a modifier of the breast cancer risk associated with BRCA1 gene mutation.
BRCA1 mutations in Algerian breast cancer patients: high frequency in young, sporadic cases
Nancy Uhrhammer,Amina Abdelouahab,Laurence Lafarge,Viviane Feillel,Ahmed Ben Dib,Yves-Jean Bignon +5 more
TL;DR: A much higher frequency of BRCA1 mutations among young breast cancer patients than observed in Europe is observed, suggesting biological differences and that the inclusion criterea for analysis in Western Europe may not be applicable for the Northern African population.
Mutation Screening of the BRCA1 Gene in Early Onset and Familial Breast/Ovarian Cancer in Moroccan Population

TL;DR: Findings reflect the genetic heterogeneity of the Moroccan population and are relevant to genetic counselling and clinical management and the role of BRCA2 in BC is also under study.
Contribution of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations to breast cancer in Tunisia

TL;DR: The data are the first to contribute to information on the mutation spectrum of BRCA genes in Tunisia, and a recommendation for improving clinical genetic testing policy is given.

Sublocalization of an ataxia-telangiectasia gene distal to D11S384 by ancestral haplotyping in Costa Rican families.

TL;DR: This study sublocalizes the major A-T locus to approximately 200 kb, between markers S384 and S535, and identifies several other common haplotypes, consistent with multiple mutations in a single gene.
