Resistance to Diet-Induced Obesity and Associated Metabolic Perturbations in Haploinsufficient Monocarboxylate Transporter 1 Mice
Sylvain Lengacher,Touria Nehiri-Sitayeb,Nadia Steiner,Lionel Carneiro,Céline Favrod,Frédéric Preitner,Bernard Thorens,Jean-Christophe Stehle,Laure Dix,François P. Pralong,Pierre J. Magistretti,Luc Pellerin +11 more
TL;DR: Interestingly, the enhancement in expression of several genes involved in lipid metabolism in the liver of MCT1 +/+ mice under high fat diet was prevented in the Liver of M CT1 +/− mice under the same diet, thus likely contributing to the observed phenotype.

Influence of ethanol dose and pigmentation on the incorporation of ethyl glucuronide into rat hair.
Hicham Kharbouche,Nadia Steiner,Marie Morelato,Christian Staub,Benjamin Boutrel,Patrice Mangin,Frank Sporkert,Marc Augsburger +7 more
TL;DR: It is supported that the bloodstream is likely to display a major role in the hair EtG incorporation, and higher doses of ethanol resulted in greater blood ethanol area under the curve of concentration versus time (AUC) and in greaterBlood EtG AUC.

Hypocretin/orexin deficiency decreases cocaine abuse liability.
Nadia Steiner,Clara Rossetti,Takeshi Sakurai,Takeshi Sakurai,Masashi Yanagisawa,Luis de Lecea,Pierre J. Magistretti,Olivier Halfon,Benjamin Boutrel +8 more
TL;DR: It is reported that innate disruption of hypocretin/orexin signaling moderately alters cocaine reward but significantly reduces long‐term affective dependence that may explain the lack of relapse for cocaine seeking seen in Hcrt KO mice.

The hypocretins and the reward function: what have we learned so far?
TL;DR: How the hypocretins, which orchestrate normal wakefulness, metabolic health and the execution of goal-oriented behaviors, may be compromised and contribute to elicit compulsive drug seeking is discussed.
