Recent decreases in fossil-fuel emissions of ethane and methane derived from firn air
Murat Aydin,K. R. Verhulst,Eric S. Saltzman,M. O. Battle,Stephen A. Montzka,Donald R. Blake,Qi Tang,Michael J. Prather +7 more
TL;DR: Measurements in firn (perennial snowpack) air from Greenland and Antarctica are used to reconstruct the atmospheric variability of ethane (C2H6) during the twentieth century, finding that this variability was primarily driven by changes in ethane emissions from fossil fuels.
Results from the International Halocarbons in Air Comparison Experiment (IHALACE)
B. D. Hall,Andreas Engel,Jens Mühle,James W. Elkins,F. Artuso,Elliot Atlas,Murat Aydin,Donald R. Blake,E.-G. Brunke,S. Chiavarini,Paul J. Fraser,James D. Happell,Paul B. Krummel,Ingeborg Levin,Max Loewenstein,Michela Maione,Stephen A. Montzka,Simon O'Doherty,Stefan Reimann,George C. Rhoderick,Eric S. Saltzman,H. E. Scheel,L. P. Steele,Martin K. Vollmer,Ray F. Weiss,Douglas E. J. Worthy,Yoko Yokouchi +26 more
TL;DR: The International Halocarbons in Air Comparison Experiment (IHALACE) was conducted to document relationships between calibration scales among various laboratories that measure atmospheric greenhouse and ozone depleting gases.
The SP19 chronology for the South Pole Ice Core – Part 1: volcanic matching and annual layer counting
D. Winski,Tyler J. Fudge,David G. Ferris,Erich C. Osterberg,John M. Fegyveresi,Jihong Cole-Dai,Z. R. Thundercloud,Thomas S. Cox,Karl J. Kreutz,Nikolas Ortman,Christo Buizert,Jenna Epifanio,Edward J. Alley,Edwin D. Waddington,Nels Iverson,Nelia W. Dunbar,R. C. Bay,Joseph M. Souney,Michael Sigl,Joseph R. McConnell +31 more
TL;DR: The South Pole Ice Core (SPICEcore) was used to provide a detailed multi-proxy archive of paleoclimate conditions in East Antarctica during the Holocene and late Pleistocene.
Controls on the movement and composition of firn air at the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Divide
M. O. Battle,Jeffrey P. Severinghaus,E. D. Sofen,E. D. Sofen,D. A. Plotkin,Anais Orsi,Murat Aydin,Stephen A. Montzka,Todd Sowers,P. P. Tans +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors sampled interstitial air from the perennial snowpack (firn) at a site near the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Di- vide (WAIS-D) and analyzed the air samples for a wide vari- ety of gas species and their isotopes.
Measuring terrestrial fluxes of methyl chloride and methyl bromide using a stable isotope tracer technique
TL;DR: Rhew et al. as mentioned in this paper presented a stable isotope incubation technique using 13 CH3Cl and 13CH3Br as tracers to simultaneously determine production and consumption fluxes in boreal forest soils from Alaska, USA.
