A novel test rig to investigate under-platform damper dynamics
Daniele Botto,Muhammad Umer +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a novel experimental test rig has been developed to extensively investigate the damper dynamic behavior, where two dampers, one on each side of the blade, are in contact with the blade under-platforms and with platforms on force measuring supports.

An Experimental Investigation of the Dynamic of a Blade With Two Under-Platform Dampers
TL;DR: In this article, a test rig was designed to accommodate a single turbine blade and two under-platform dampers, where one side of each damper was in contact with a ground support specifically designed to measure two independent forces on the damper.

Measurement of contact parameters on under-platform dampers coupled with blade dynamics
Muhammad Umer,Daniele Botto +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of nonlinear contact forces on the vibration amplitude of a turbine blade was investigated using a recently developed experimental setup and the measured forces and relative displacement were further post processed to compute the equivalent contact characteristics, namely equivalent contact stiffness and damping.

Experimental Study of under-platform Damper Kinematics in Presence of Blade Dynamics
Daniele Botto,Chiara Gastaldi,Muzio Gola,Muhammad Umer +3 more
- 01 Jan 2018
TL;DR: A novel test rig has been purposely designed to accommodate a single blade and two under-platform dampers to deeply investigate the damper-blade interactions and damper kinematics is rebuilt by using the relative displacement measured between damper and blade.
