Gianotti–Crosti syndrome is characterized by an acute onset of a papular or papulovesicular eruption with a symmetrical distribution. A PubMed search was conducted using Clinical Queries with the key terms “Gianotti-Crosti syndrome” OR “papular acrodermatitis”. The search strategy included meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials, clinical trials, observational studies, and reviews. This paper is based on, but not limited to, the search results. The eruption of Gianotti–Crosti syndrome is found predominantly on the cheeks, extensor surfaces of the extremities, and buttocks. There is a sparing of antecubital and popliteal fossae as well as palms, soles, and mucosal surfaces. Although often asymptomatic, the lesions may be mildly to moderately pruritic. Gianotti–Crosti syndrome is most common in children between 1 and 6 years of age. The Epstein–Barr virus and the hepatitis B virus are the most common pathogens associated with Gianotti–Crosti syndrome. No treatment for Gianotti–Crosti syndrome is necessary because it is self-limited. In an era of vaccine hesitancy and refusal, Gianotti–Crosti syndrome may be important to mention to parents, because it can occur and trigger alarmism. Gianotti–Crosti syndrome is mainly a disease of early childhood, characterized by an acute onset of a papular or papulovesicular eruption with a symmetrical distribution. With the advent of more universal vaccination against hepatitis B virus, Epstein–Barr virus has become the most common etiologic agent of Gianotti–Crosti syndrome. Few cases of post-vaccination Gianotti–Crosti syndrome have been reported. Currently, the emphasis should be placed on its self-limiting attribution.

Four species, i.e. Torrenticola uttarakhandensis, T. chatterjeei (Torrenticolidae), Atractides indicus and Hygrobates dobriyali (Hygrobatidae) are described as new to science. The first description of the female and deutonymph of Sperchon indicusKumar, Kumar & Pesic, 2007 is given. Atractides cf. incertusLundblad, 1969 is reported as new for the fauna of India.

New records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from the Western Himalaya with the description of four new species

Two rare water mite species (Acari, Hydrachnidia), i.e., Torrenticola malaisei (Lundblad, 1941) and Momonides trabecularis Lundblad, 1941, are reported from streams in the eastern Himalayan region in India. Torrenticola malaisei (Lundblad, 1941) has been discovered after 70 years and the first description of the male is given; the synonymization of T. lamellifera (Lundblad, 1941) with T. malaisei proposed by Wiles (1997) is not accepted; the male of M. trabecularis is described for the first time.

Length-weight relationships (LWR) are presented for five fish species: Laubuka laubuca (Hamilton, 1822); Aspidoparia jaya (Hamilton, 1822); Channa gachua (Hamilton, 1822); Acanthocobitis botia (Hamilton, 1822) and Badis badis (Hamilton, 1822) collected from the Ranganadi River in the Lakhimpur district of Assam, India. There were no prior LWR data regarding three of these species.

The present study describes the length weight relationships (LWR) of Mola carplet, Amblypharyngodon mola in selected wetlands of Assam, India from March, 2015 to Sept, 2016. A total of 440 specimens ranging from 4.1 to 9.0 cm (average 6.1 cm with SEM 0.195) total length (TL) and 0.98 to 8.25 g total weight (TW) (Average 3.3 g with SEM 0.285) were collected. The length-weight relationship of the fish suggested negative allometric growth. The regression models obtained was log W = 2.865 X – 1.785 log L, R2 = 0.964 for female and logW = 2.381 X -1.403 log L, R2 = 0.954 for male. Results for length weight relationships (R2 > 0.9) P

Length-weight relationships of mola carplet Amblypharyngodon mola (Hamilton) (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) from wetlands of Assam, India

Summary

The present study describes the length–weight relationship (LWR), condition factor (K) and size at first maturity of a cobitid loach, Lepidocephalichthys goalparensis Pillai and Yazdani, 1976 of the family Cobitidae in Assam, India. A total of 716 specimens (males = 324, females = 392) ranging from 3.06 to 7.01 cm total length (TL) and 0.17–2.27 g body weight (BW) were analyzed. The overall value of the allometric coefficient b for the LWR indicated negative allometric growth (<3.00) for both males (2.774) and females (2.993). The size at first maturity (TL50) for female L. goalparensis was estimated to be 5.6 cm TL. The condition factor values ranged from 0.56 to 1.35 in mature females. This is the first time that the biological parameters have been studied in this species.

(Anguilliformes: Ophichthidae: Ophichthinae), is described on the basis of a specimen collected from dumped fish disposed of by bottom trawlers at Kasimedu fishing harbour, Chennai. Ophichthus chennaiensis sp. nov is distinguished from its congeners by having its dorsal-fin origin one pectoral-fin length behind the pectoral-fin tip, preanal length 2.4 in TL, biserial maxillary, uniserial mandibular teeth, biserial to uniserial vomerine teeth, and its vertebrae (predorsal 19, preanal 53, and total vertebrae 154).
