Enhancing collaborative road scene reconstruction with unsupervised domain alignment
Moritz Venator,Moritz Venator,Selcuk Aklanoglu,Erich Bruns,Andreas Maier +4 more
- 01 Jan 2021
TL;DR: This work proposes to use multimodal domain adaptation as a preprocessing step to align images in their appearance and enhance keypoint matching across viewing conditions while preserving the advantages of handcrafted features for collaborative reconstruction of road sections by a car fleet.

Dual-Mode Training with Style Control and Quality Enhancement for Road Image Domain Adaptation
Moritz Venator,Fengyi Shen,Selcuk Aklanoglu,Erich Bruns,Klaus Diepold,Andreas Maier +5 more
- 01 Mar 2020
TL;DR: A style alignment loss is introduced between output and reference image to improve both style alignment and image quality in different viewing conditions, and a new training approach allows to control the output of multimodal domain adaptation, making it possible to generate arbitrary scenes and viewing conditions for data augmentation.
Robust Camera Pose Estimation for Unordered Road Scene Images in Varying Viewing Conditions
Moritz Venator,Erich Bruns,Andreas Maier +2 more
- 01 Mar 2020
TL;DR: A state-of-the-art Structure from Motion pipeline is extended by selecting keypoints based on a semantic image segmentation and removing GPS outliers that is able to reconstruct the camera viewpoints robustly in the majority of road scenes observed while preserving high image registration rates.
