Abstract : A study is reported of the variations in organizational commitment and job satisfaction, as related to subsequent turnover in a sample of recently-employed psychiatric technician trainees. A longitudinal study was made across a 10 1/2 month period, with attitude measures collected at four points in time. For this sample, job satisfaction measures appeared better able to differentiate future stayers from leavers in the earliest phase of the study. With the passage of time, organizational commitment measures proved to be a better predictor of turnover, and job satisfaction failed to predict turnover. The findings are discussed in the light of other related studies, and possible explanations are examined. (Modified author abstract)

One of the most important factors influencing commitment of the employees is the behavior exhibited by transformational leaders. It is argued that transformational leaders foster positive employee commitment through their characteristics. Committed employees play a major role in creating the competitive advantage for an organization. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to analyze the role of transformational leadership in eliciting employee’s organizational commitment. As this paper is descriptive, analysis of this paper is totally dependent upon the secondary data like research journal, articles and different websites. The findings of paper could aid the leaders in enhancing the commitment of the employees.

The Mediating Effect of Organizational Teachers' Commitment on the Relationship Between Transformational Leadership and Teachers' Performance: A Study in Yemeni Public Schools

This study sought to determine if a relationship exists between leadership styles and organizational commitment in government contract employees. The psychological contract theory, expectancy theory, and transactional and transformational leadership theories framed the study purpose. The quantitative research method using the Pearson correlational statistical design was used to assess variable relationships. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) and the Three-Component Model (TCM) of Commitment were used to collect data from a sample of government contract employees. The results revealed weak but no statistically significant relationship between transformational and transactional leadership styles and organizational commitment. The study also found weak but no significant relationship between lassie-faire leadership and organizational commitment. Although not significant, the weak relationships indicate opportunities to better understand of the expected employee commitmentdependent outcomes resulting from decisions involving transformational, transactional, and laissez faire leaders.

The Relationship between Organizational Commitment and Transformational and Transactional Leadership Styles in Government Contract Employees

The purpose of this study to establish what demographic characteristics (gender, generations and organisational tenure) play a role in employee perceptions of organisational culture, commitment and identification in Russian public organisations.,The data were collected electronically from 248 employees of two public organisations. Three questionnaires were used.,Organisational tenure plays a central role in the way how employees perceive organisational culture; tenure also shapes the levels of both commitment and identification. The specific finding of Russian settings is that the longer employees work for a company, the lower the levels of psychological attachments they demonstrate, while it is not the case for some existing international results. The other findings correspond with those in international studies, in which women were more psychologically attached to the organisation and showed a higher level of identification and lower rates of negative forms of this concept than men did. The older the employees are, the higher the level of identification they express.,Managers working in Russian settings can struggle with engaging and retaining employees. Understanding the demographic effects can help alleviate these challenges.,Based on empirical findings, this paper contributes to the literature on organisational socialisation by providing evidence of the damaging effects of the length of organisational tenure on psychological attachment to the company (in the form of commitment and identification). Additionally, tenure is the shaping factor of employee perception of organisational culture.

What demographics matter for organisational culture, commitment and identification? A case in Russian settings

Transformational Leadership, Organizational Commitment, Secondary School Teachers This study examines the relationship between transformational leadership style and organizational commitment of Germi's secondary school teachers in academic year 20112012. Four-hundred secondary school teachers consisted the statistical population of the study. The determined sample size by the Cochran formula was 196. The sample was selected through simple random sampling. The data obtained through Bass and Avolio's multifactor leadership questionnaire (1996) and Porter's organizational commitment questionnaire (1974). The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between transformational leadership and organizational commitment of teachers. In addition, stepwise regression analysis demonstrated that among the components of transformational leadership, the idealized influence had the greatest impact on organizational commitment of teachers.
