Intravenous thrombolysis before mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion; should we cross that bridge? A systematic review and meta-analysis of 36,123 patients
H. Ghaith,Mohamed Elfil,M. Gabra,A. A. Nawar,Mohamed Sameh Abd-Alkhaleq,Khaled M. Hamam,Lara Ebrahim Aboelnasr,Esraa Ayman Elgezery,Mohamed Hosny Osman,Hanaa Mohammed Eid Elsayed,Sarya Swed,Ulrick Sidney Kanmounye,Ahmed Negida +12 more
TL;DR: For AIS-LVO, IVT + MT is associated with slightly better rates of survival, successful and complete recanalization, and favorable functional outcome as compared with MT alone, and further clinical trials are needed to corroborate such benefits of bridging IVT.

Rami Z. Morsi,Mohamed Elfil,Hazem S. Ghaith,Mohammad Aladawi,Sachin A Kothari,Harsh Desai,Shyam Prabhakaran,Fawaz Al-Mufti,Tareq Kass-Hout +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors conducted a living systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials comparing EVT versus medical management only in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients.
The safety and effectiveness of the Contour Neurovascular System for the treatment of wide-necked aneurysms: A systematic review and meta-analysis of early experience.
Sherief Ghozy,B. Lashin,Mohamed Elfil,Cem Bilgin,H. Kobeissi,Mostafa A. Shehata,Ramanathan Kadirvel,David F. Kallmes +7 more
TL;DR: The Contour Neurovascular system is a new generation intrasaccular flow disruption tool that aims to cover the aneurysm neck and is sized according to the neck diameter as discussed by the authors .

Mohamed Elfil,Hazem S. Ghaith,Mohamed Fahmy Doheim,P. Aboutaleb,Dominic J. Romeo,Mohamed M. Salem,Mohammad Aladawi,Brian T. Jankowitz,Jan-Karl Burkhardt,Fawaz Al-Mufti,Raul G Nogueira +10 more
TL;DR: This paper conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to provide comprehensive evidence regarding the comparison of procedural and clinical outcomes of TRA versus TFA in patients with acute ischemic stroke undergoing mechanical thrombectomy.

Repeated mechanical thrombectomy for recurrent large vessel occlusion: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Mohamed Elfil,Eshak I. Bahbah,Ahmed Y. Bayoumi,Mohammad Aladawi,Mohamed Eldokmak,Mohamed M. Salem,P. Aboutaleb,Brian Villafuerte-Trisolini,Fawaz Al-Mufti,Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez,Marco A Gonzalez-Castellon +10 more
TL;DR: In properly selected recurrent LVO patients, repeated MT is efficacious and safe, and a prior MT procedure should not discourage aggressive treatment as many patients may achieve favorable outcomes.
