Businesses have been exposed to the risk of closure because of the global supply chain disruption post the COVID-19 pandemic. Uncertainty and lack of products and services led firms to encounter losses ranging from decreased market shares to a total failure to sustain operations. Leaders invest in the digital supply chain to improve firms' performance and mitigate global business risks. Grounded in Duchek's organizational resilience theory, the purpose of this chapter is to explore the digital supply chain, a proposed solution to the global disruption impacting business sustainability. Data were collected from a review of previous literature and cases of digital supply chain successful implementation in the US retail industry. A key recommendation for firms is to invest in digital supply chain models that fit businesses' needs. Digital supply chain may allow supply chain members collaboration, reduce the closure risk, extend opportunities, and positively impact communities' stability and growth.

Decision-making is a high-risk process for businesses' life cycle worldwide. Wrong decisions by business leaders may lead to business closure in critical situations for all firms, including small and medium-sized enterprises. Leaders invest in artificial intelligence to improve their decision-making capabilities and contribute to their businesses' sustainability. Grounded in Herbert Simon's decision-making theory, the purpose of this chapter's multiple case study was to explore why artificial intelligence may enhance business leaders' decision-making. Three business leaders from different organizations in the United States and UAE's real estate properties industry participated in this research. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and from a review of previous literature. A key recommendation for firms is to invest in artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence may allow business leaders to improve decision-making, reduce the potential risk of closure, extend business opportunities, and positively contribute to communities' stability and growth. 

Investing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Business Leaders to Enhance Decision-Making

With the intensifying impacts of the climate crisis becoming more severe day by day, the industries have been compelled to accelerate the implementation of sustainable practices, especially in the fashion industry, as a motivation behind this study. Although, the utilization of digitalization and artificial intelligence as a means of sustainable applications is increasingly growing, the current literature is mainly focused only on conducting fashion shows using augmented reality googles, there is an obvious gap in the literature addressing the mobile applications capabilities in terms of artificial intelligence and augmented reality. Hence, the purpose of this study is to examine artificial intelligence/augmented reality - powered mobile applications from a consumer point of view. In pursuit of this aim, several alternative applications were reviewed, the factors affecting the consumer's decision were identified, and the Organization, Rangement et Synthese de Donnes Relationnelles (ORESTE) technique was utilized as a multi-criteria decision-making technique for the analysis as a contribution of artificial intelligence in the engineering applications. Additionally, the ORESTE technique has been extended with Fermatean Fuzzy sets to make a theoretical contribution to the literature as the main numerical achievement. The findings of the study illustrate that (i) the consumers prefer camera-assisted measurement applications, and (ii) the applications offering synchronized suggestions with existing fashion brand's products are preferred. Moreover, the study provides a significant illustration of the use of artificial intelligence powered mobile applications as an actual practical implication, and it creates a suitable ground for the sector authorities to take strategic decisions as a managerial implication. 

Role of artificial intelligence and augmented reality in fashion industry from consumer perspective: Sustainability through waste and return mitigation

In a developing nation such as Pakistan, the textile sector is crucial for employment creation and poverty reduction. As a result of digitization, standard industrial operating processes have altered. The study, which is built on resource-based theory, seeks to determine how the digital supply chain (comprised of blockchain, the internet of things, and big data analytics) influences operational performance. In addition, the relationship between the innovative climate and the operational success of the digital supply chain has been analyzed. Data was collected from 270 respondents, i.e., 65 top level managers and 205 middle level managers. The results indicate that the digitization of the supply chain, which includes the application of big data analytics, the internet of things, and blockchain, greatly enhances operational performance. The innovation climate has not been proven to affect operational performance or digitalization. At the end theoretical and practical implication are highlighted.
