Anticoagulant Effects of 1α,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 on Human Myelogenous Leukemia Cells and Monocytes
TL;DR: 1,25(OH)2D3 resembles the retinoids in its control of the transcription of the TM and TF genes in human monocytic cells, which indicates that analogs of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 with anticoagulant activity may serve as adjunctive antithrombotic agents inMonocytic leukemia and atherosclerotic disease.

Induction of TNF-α, uPA, IL-8 and MCP-1 by doxorubicin in human lung carcinoma cells
Masami Niiya,Kenji Niiya,Toru Kiguchi,Misako Shibakura,Noboru Asaumi,Katsuji Shinagawa,Fumihiko Ishimaru,Katsuyuki Kiura,Kazuma Ikeda,Hiroshi Ueoka,Mitsune Tanimoto +10 more
TL;DR: TNF-α, uPA, IL-8 and MCP-1 induced and secreted from tumor cells upon doxorubicin stimulation may activate surrounding cells expressing the receptors such as neutrophils and monocytes/macrophages in a paracrine fashion.

Induction of IL-8 and monoclyte chemoattractant protein-1 by doxorubicin in human small cell lung carcinoma cells
Misako Shibakura,Kenji Niiya,Toru Kiguchi,Isao Kitajima,Masami Niiya,Noboru Asaumi,Nam Ho Huh,Yasunari Nakata,Mine Harada,Mitsune Tanimoto +9 more
TL;DR: There is definitive evidence that doxorubicin induces IL‐8 and MCP‐1, one of the CC chemokines, at least in 2 human SCLC cells, H69 and SBC‐1.

The Elevation of p53 Protein Level and SOD Activity in the Resident Blood of the Misasa Radon Hot Spring District
Kiyonori Yamaoka,Fumihiro Mitsunobu,Shuji Kojima,Misako Shibakura,Takahiro Kataoka,Katsumi Hanamoto,Yoshiro Tanizaki +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that routine exposure of the residents in the Misasa hot spring district to radon at a concentration about 3 times higher than the national mean induces trace active oxygen in vivo, potentiating products of cancer-suppressive gene and antioxidant function.
Induction of urokinase-type plasminogen activator by the anthracycline antibiotic in human RC-K8 lymphoma and H69 lung-carcinoma cells.
Toru Kiguchi,Kenji Niiya,Misako Shibakura,Takayoshi Miyazono,Katsuji Shinagawa,Fumihiko Ishimaru,Katsuyuki Kiura,Kazuma Ikeda,Yasunari Nakata,Mine Harada +9 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that ROS‐generating anthracycline antibiotics, including doxorubicin and aclarubsicin, upregulate uPA expression in 2 human malignant cell lines, RC‐K8 and H69 small‐cell lung‐carcinoma cells, suggesting that the anthrACYcline may influence many biologic cell functions mediated by the uPA/plasmin system.
