Dabei ist das von dem LED-Array in Verbindung mit einem optischen Abbildungssystem erzeugte Lichtbundel durch zumindest eine horizontale Beleuchtungsstarke- Verteilung charakterisierbar, bei dem die Beitrage von mindestens zwei LEDs zur Beleuchtungsstarke-Verteilung zumindest teilweise horizontalwinkelmasig uberlappen, wobei die Beleuchtungsstarke jeweils fur a) verschiedene Positionen vor dem Kraftfahrzeug und b) verschiedene horizontale Winkel relativ zu einer Referenzrichtung definierbar ist. Fur ein detektiertes Objekt wird dann jeweils in Abhangigkeit von der Position des Objekts zum Kraftfahrzeug und in Abhangigkeit einer angenommenen oder ermittelten Objektbreite ein blendungskritischer Horizontalwinkelbereich ermittelt sowie die einzelnen LEDs unter Berucksichtigung der horizontalwinkelmasigen Uberlappung ihrer Beitrage zur Beleuchtungsstarke-Verteilung derart angesteuert, dass im blendungskritischen Horizontalwinkelbereich und bezogen auf die Position des detektierten Objekts ein Beleuchtungsstarkegrenzwert nicht uberschritten wird.
