SARS-CoV-2 infects and induces cytotoxic effects in human cardiomyocytes.
Denisa Bojkova,Julian U. G. Wagner,Mariana Shumliakivska,Galip Servet Aslan,Umber Saleem,Arne Hansen,Guillermo Luxán,Stefan Günther,Minh Duc Pham,Jaya Krishnan,Patrick N. Harter,Utz H Ermel,Achilleas S. Frangakis,Hendrik Milting,Andreas M. Zeiher,Andreas M. Zeiher,Karin Klingel,Jindrich Cinatl,Andreas Dendorfer,Andreas Dendorfer,Thomas Eschenhagen,Carsten Tschöpe,Sandra Ciesek,Sandra Ciesek,Stefanie Dimmeler +24 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that SARS-CoV-2 infects cardiomyocytes in vitro in an ACE2- and cathepsin-dependent manner and is inhibited by the antiviral drug remdesivir, which warrants further monitoring of cardiotoxic effects in COVID-19 patients.

A human cell atlas of the pressure-induced hypertrophic heart
Luka Nicin,S. M. Schroeter,Simone F. Glaser,Ralf Schulze-Brüning,Minh Duc Pham,Susanne Hille,Michail Yekelchyk,Badder Kattih,Wesley Abplanalp,Lukas Tombor,Oliver J. Müller,Thomas Braun,Benjamin Meder,Christoph Reich,Mani Arsalan,Tomas Holubec,Thomas Walther,Fabian Emrich,Jaya Krishnan,Andreas M. Zeiher,David John,Stefanie Dimmeler +21 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the transcriptional response of human cardiomyocytes to pressure overload caused by aortic valve stenosis and major alterations in cardiac cellular crosstalk was described.
Aging impairs the neurovascular interface in the heart
Julian Warner,Lukas Tombor,Pedro Felipe Malacarne,Lisa-Maria Kettenhausen,Josefine Panthel,Haris Kujundzic,Nivethitha Manickam,K. Schmitz,Maria Cipca,Kathrin Stilz,Ariane Fischer,Marion Muhly-Reinholz,Wesley Abplanalp,David John,Sarajo Mohanta,Christian Weber,Andreas J. R. Habenicht,Giulia K. Müller,Tarik Bozoglu,Christian Kupatt,Eleonora Nardini,Selma Osmanagic‐Myers,Christian Meyer,Andreas M. Zeiher,Ralf P. Brandes,Guillermo Luxán,Stefanie Dimmeler +41 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that innervation of the heart decreases with age, and age-related accumulation of senescent cells promotes the release of semaphorin-3A, which reduces the density of neuronal axons in the heart.

Inhibition of the Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 1α-Induced Cardiospecific HERNA1 Enhance-Templated RNA Protects From Heart Disease.
Peter Mirtschink,Corinne Bischof,Corinne Bischof,Minh Duc Pham,Rahul Sharma,Sanjay Khadayate,Geetha Rossi,Niklaus Fankhauser,Shuyang Traub,Samuel Sossalla,Samuel Sossalla,Eman Hagag,Corinne Berthonneche,Alexandre Sarre,Sebastian Stehr,Phillip Grote,Thierry Pedrazzini,Stefanie Dimmeler,Wilhelm Krek,Jaya Krishnan,Jaya Krishnan +20 more
TL;DR: This research presents a novel probabilistic approach that allows us to assess the importance of knowing the carrier and removal status of canine coronavirus, as a source of infection for other animals.

SARS-CoV-2 infects and induces cytotoxic effects in human cardiomyocytes
Denisa Bojkova,Julian U. G. Wagner,Mariana Shumliakivska,Galip Servet Aslan,Umber Saleem,Arne Hansen,Guillermo Luxán,Stefan Guenther,Minh Duc Pham,Jaya Krishnan,Patrick N. TL;DR: It is demonstrated that human cardiac myocytes are permissive for SARS-CoV-2 infection, which may provide a rational to explain part of the cardiotoxicity observed in COVID-19 patients.
