17-AAG improves cognitive process and increases heat shock protein response in a model lesion with Aβ25-35.
Laura Ortega,Laura Ortega,Minerva Calvillo,Félix Luna,Francisca Pérez-Severiano,Moisés Rubio-Osornio,Jorge Guevara,Ilhuicamina Daniel Limón +7 more
TL;DR: The results show that the pharmacological induction of HSP using 17-AAG may be an alternative treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and did not reverse excitotoxic damage.

The amyloid-β25–35 injection into the CA1 region of the neonatal rat hippocampus impairs the long-term memory because of an increase of nitric oxide
Alfonso Díaz,Luis De Jesús,Liliana Mendieta,Minerva Calvillo,Blanca Espinosa,Edgar Zenteno,Jorge Guevara,Ilhuicamina Daniel Limón +7 more
TL;DR: The results showed that neonatal-Abeta(25-35) injection into the hippocampus (Hp) causes significant impairments in the spatial memory after 90 days, and this finding is a novel result about the role of Abetas during the neonatal stage that enhances the NO production, which appears to impair theatial memory in adult rats.

Amyloid-β25–35 induces a permanent phosphorylation of HSF-1, but a transitory and inflammation-independent overexpression of Hsp-70 in C6 astrocytoma cells
Minerva Calvillo,Alfonso Díaz,Alfonso Díaz,Daniel Limon,Miguel Ángel Mayoral,María Elena Chánez-Cárdenas,Edgar Zenteno,Luis F. Montaño,Jorge Guevara,Blanca Espinosa +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that Hsp-70 temporary expression serves as a trigger to inhibit casapase-3 pathway and allow the expression of HSP-60 and -90 in C6 astrocytoma cells stimulated with Aβ(25-35), a cytotoxic protein.

Dopaminergic modulation of the caudal photoreceptor in crayfish
Leonardo Rodríguez-Sosa,Gabina Calderón-Rosete,Minerva Calvillo,Jorge Guevara,Gonzalo Flores +4 more
TL;DR: Observations suggested that the DA is playing the role of a neurotransmitter or a neuromodulator of the CPR in the 6th AG in both species of crayfish, Procambarus clarkii and Cherax quadricarinatus.

Sialylated and O-glycosidically linked glycans in prion protein deposits in a case of Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker disease
Viviana Zomosa-Signoret,Miguel Ángel Mayoral,Daniel Limon,Blanca Espinosa,Minerva Calvillo,Edgar Zenteno,Victor Martínez,Jorge Guevara +7 more
TL;DR: Results show that specific modifications in the glycosylation pattern are closely related to the hallmark lesions and might be an early event in neuronal degeneration in GSS disease.
