Eddy-resolving ocean circulation in the Asian Australian region inferred from an ocean reanalysis effort
Andreas Schiller,Peter R. Oke,Gary B. Brassington,Mikhail Entel,Russell Fiedler,David Griffin,Jim V. Mansbridge +6 more
TL;DR: The first global ocean reanalysis with focus on the Asian-Australian region was performed for the period October 1992 to June 2006 as discussed by the authors, which assimilated available observations of altimetric sea-level anomaly, satellite SST and quality-controlled in situ temperature and salinity profiles from a range of sources, including field surveys and the Argo float array.

Recent Progress in Storm Surge Forecasting
Nadao Kohno,Shishir K. Dube,Mikhail Entel,S.H.M. Fakhruddin,Diana J. M. Greenslade,Marie-Dominique Leroux,Jamie Rhome,Nguyen Ba Thuy +7 more
- 01 May 2018
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlight recent progress in the field of storm surges in relation to three key points: improvement in storm surge forecasting models / system, TC conditions as input for storm surge predictions, and informative products for end users.

Bluelink ocean forecasting Australia: 15 years of operational ocean service delivery with societal, economic and environmental benefits
Andreas Schiller,Gary B. Brassington,Peter R. Oke,Madeleine Cahill,Prasanth Divakaran,Mikhail Entel,Justin Freeman,David Griffin,Mike Herzfeld,Ron Hoeke,Xinmei Huang,Emlyn Jones,Edward King,Barbra Parker,Tracey Pitman,Uwe Rosebrock,Jessica Sweeney,Andy Taylor,Marcus Thatcher,Robert Woodham,Aihong Zhong +20 more
TL;DR: The operational Australian Bluelink ocean forecast system is used to transform physical oceanographic observations into coherent analyses and predictions as mentioned in this paper, which form the basis for the Australian Ocean Forecast System.

An operational coastal sea level forecasting system
Diana J. M. Greenslade,Justin Freeman,H. Sims,Stewart C. R. Allen,Frank Colberg,Eric Schulz,M. Velic,Prasanth Divakaran,Jeffrey D. Kepert,Andy Taylor,A Donaldson,R Bailey,Mikhail Entel +12 more
- 01 Jan 2017
TL;DR: The Australian coastline and its infrastructure are vulnerable to the impacts of extreme coastal sea levels and the Bureau of Meteorology is developing a new system to provide forecasts of coastal sea level for the Australian coast as discussed by the authors.

Operational Issues with BLUElink > Ocean Model, Analysis and Prediction System (OceanMAPS)
Graham Warren,Gary Brassington,Mikhail Entel,Xinmei Huang,Leon Majewski,Tim Pugh,Claire M. Spillman +6 more
- 01 Jan 2007
TL;DR: OceanMAPS as discussed by the authors is the first generation ocean forecasting system that has been operational at the Bureau of Meteorology since August 2007 and consists of a sequential procedure analogous to that employed in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP).
