4-Substituted Trinems as Broad Spectrum beta-Lactamase Inhibitors: Structure-Based Design, Synthesis, and Biological Activity
Ivan Plantan,Lovro Selic,Tomaz Mesar,Petra Stefanic Anderluh,Marko Oblak,Andrej Prezelj,Lars Hesse,Miha Andrejašič,Mateja Vilar,Dušan Turk,Andrej Kocijan,Tadeja Prevec,Gregor Vilfan,Darko Kocjan,Anton Copar,Uroš Urleb,Tom Solmajer +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of 4-substituted trinems was designed and synthesized, and significant in vitro inhibitory activity was measured against the bacterial beta-lactamases of class C and additionally against class A. The lead compound LK-157 was shown to be a potent mechanism-based inactivator.

PURY: a database of geometric restraints of hetero compounds for refinement in complexes with macromolecular structures.
TL;DR: A database, named PURY, of geometric parameters of chemical compounds has been developed and analysis has confirmed that the restraints from the PURY database are suitable for use in macromolecular crystal structure refinement and should be of value to the crystallographic community.

Preliminary crystallographic study of Streptomyces coelicolor single-stranded DNA-binding protein
Zoran Štefanić,Dušica Vujaklija,Luka Andrišić,Goran Mikleušević,Miha Andrejašič,Dušan Turk,Marija Luić +6 more
TL;DR: The Streptomyces coelicolor ssb gene was overexpressed in a heterologous host, Escherichia coli NM522 and displayed significant sequence similarity with those from Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Myc Cobacterium smegmatis, slow growing bacteria with a high GC content.
