65 kpc of ionized gas trailing behind NGC 4848 during its first crossing of the Coma cluster
TL;DR: In this paper, a 65 kpc cometary emission of ionized gas trailing behind the SBab galaxy NGC 4848 was detected in a five hour exposure of the northwest region of the Coma cluster with the 2.1 m telescope at San Pedro Martir (Mx), where the authors inferred that the galaxy is suffering from ram pressure due to its high velocity motion through the intergalactic medium.

TL;DR: In this paper, the VERITAS discovery of very high energy (VHE) gamma-ray emission above 200 GeV from the high-frequency-peaked BL Lac (HBL) object RX J0648.
Measurement of the primordial helium abundance from the intergalactic medium
Ryan Cooke,Michele Fumagalli +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the primordial helium abundance of an intergalactic gas cloud was determined using the light of a background quasar instead of a star-forming region in local metal-poor galaxies.
MUSE Analysis of Gas around Galaxies (MAGG) – I: Survey design and the environment of a near pristine gas cloud at z ≈ 3.5
Emma K. Lofthouse,Michele Fumagalli,Michele Fumagalli,Matteo Fossati,John M. O'Meara,Michael T. Murphy,Lise Christensen,J. Xavier Prochaska,Sebastiano Cantalupo,R. M. Bielby,Ryan Cooke,Elisabeta Lusso,Simon L. Morris +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the design, methods, and first results of the MUSE Analysis of Gas around Galaxies (MAGG) survey, a large programme on the Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) instrument at the Very Large Telescope (VLT) which targets 28 z > 3.2 quasars to investigate the connection between optically-thick gas and galaxies at z ∼ 3 − 4.8.
