Muc5b is required for airway defence
Michelle G. Roy,Alessandra Livraghi-Butrico,Ashley A. Fletcher,Melissa M. McElwee,Scott E. Evans,Ryan M. Boerner,Samantha N. Alexander,Lindsey K. Bellinghausen,Alfred S. Song,Youlia Petrova,Michael J. Tuvim,Roberto Adachi,Irlanda Romo,Andrea S. Bordt,M. Gabriela Bowden,M. Gabriela Bowden,Joseph H. Sisson,Prescott G. Woodruff,David J. Thornton,Karine Rousseau,Maria Miguelina De La Garza,Seyed Javad Moghaddam,Harry Karmouty-Quintana,Michael R. Blackburn,Scott M. Drouin,C. William Davis,Kristy A. Terrell,Barbara R. Grubb,Wanda K. O'Neal,Sonia C. Flores,Adela Cota-Gomez,Catherine A. Lozupone,Jody Donnelly,Alan M. Watson,Corinne E. Hennessy,Rebecca C. Keith,Ivana V. Yang,Lea Barthel,Peter M. Henson,William J. Janssen,David A. Schwartz,Richard C. Boucher,Burton F. Dickey,Christopher M. Evans,Christopher M. Evans +44 more
TL;DR: It is shown that mouse Muc5b (but not MUC5ac) is required for MCC, for controlling infections in the airways and middle ear, and for maintaining immune homeostasis in mouse lungs, whereas Muc 5ac is dispensable.
Adenosine receptors in regulation of dendritic cell differentiation and function
Sergey V. Novitskiy,Sergey Ryzhov,Rinat Zaynagetdinov,Anna E. Goldstein,Yuhui Huang,Oleg Tikhomirov,Michael R. Blackburn,Italo Biaggioni,David P. Carbone,Igor Feoktistov,Mikhail M. Dikov +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that DCs with proangiogenic phenotype are highly abundant under conditions associated with elevated levels of extracellular adenosine in vivo, and A(2B) receptor is an important factor of aberrant DC differentiation and generation of tolerogenic, angiogenic, and proinflammatory cells.

Mucin Is Produced by Clara Cells in the Proximal Airways of Antigen-Challenged Mice
Christopher M. Evans,Olatunji W. Williams,Michael J. Tuvim,Rupesh Nigam,George P. Mixides,Michael R. Blackburn,Francesco J. DeMayo,Alan R. Burns,C. Smith,Susan D. Reynolds,Barry R. Stripp,Burton F. Dickey +11 more
TL;DR: Clara cells show great plasticity in structure and secretory products, yet have molecular and functional continuity in their identity as specialized apical secretory cells in mouse airway mucous cells.

Blockade of IL-6 Trans Signaling Attenuates Pulmonary Fibrosis
Thanh-Thuy T. Le,Harry Karmouty-Quintana,Ernestina Melicoff,Thanh-Truc T. Le,Tingting Weng,Ning Yuan Chen,Mesias Pedroza,Yang Zhou,Jonathan Davies,Kemly Philip,Jose G. Molina,Fayong Luo,Anuh T. George,Luis J. Garcia-Morales,R.R. Bunge,Brian A. Bruckner,Matthias Loebe,Harish Seethamraju,Sandeep K. Agarwal,Michael R. Blackburn,Michael R. Blackburn +20 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the production of sIL-6Rα from macrophages in the diseased lung contributes to IL-6 trans signaling that in turn influences events crucial in pulmonary fibrosis.

Adenosinergic Regulation of the Expansion and Immunosuppressive Activity of CD11b+Gr1+ Cells
Sergey Ryzhov,Sergey V. Novitskiy,Anna E. Goldstein,Asel K. Biktasova,Michael R. Blackburn,Italo Biaggioni,Mikhail M. Dikov,Igor Feoktistov +7 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that generation of adenosine by CD73 expressed at high levels on granulocytic MDSCs may promote their expansion and facilitate their immunosuppressive activity.
