Longitudinal grey and white matter changes in frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Lars Frings,Belinda Yew,Emma Flanagan,Bonnie Y.K. Lam,Michael Hüll,Hans-Jürgen Huppertz,John R. Hodges,Michael Hornberger +7 more
TL;DR: Automated longitudinal MRI volumetry discriminates behavioural variant frontotemporal dementia from Alzheimer’s disease, finding greater reduction of orbitofrontal grey matter and temporal white matter structures after 12 months is indicative of bvFTD.

Younkin,Lesley Jones,Peter Holmans,Michael Conlon O'Donovan,Michael John Owen,Julie Williams +93 more
TL;DR: Common variants at AβPP, PSEN1, and PSEN2 and MAPT are unlikely to make strong contributions to susceptibility for LOAD, however, the gene-wide effect observed at MAPT indicates a possible contribution to disease risk which requires further study.
A comparison of different automated methods for the detection of white matter lesions in MRI data
Stefan Klöppel,Ahmed Abdulkadir,Stathis Hadjidemetriou,Sabine Issleib,Lars Frings,Thao Nguyen Thanh,Irina Mader,Stefan J. Teipel,Michael Hüll,Olaf Ronneberger +9 more
TL;DR: Advantages of SVM are demonstrated for the problem of detecting WMH at least for studies that include only FLAIR and T1 weighted images, and a clear benefit from optimizing the threshold of the SVM decision value and the voting rule of the KNN is indicated.

Structured relearning of activities of daily living in dementia: the randomized controlled REDALI-DEM trial on errorless learning.
Sebastian Voigt-Radloff,Maartje M. E. de Werd,Rainer Leonhart,Danielle H. E. Boelen,Marcel G. M. Olde Rikkert,Klaus Fliessbach,Stefan Klöppel,Bernhard Heimbach,Andreas Fellgiebel,Richard Dodel,Gerhard W. Eschweiler,Lucrezia Hausner,Roy P. C. Kessels,Michael Hüll +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of EL compared with trial and error learning (TEL) on the performance of activities of daily living in persons with Alzheimer's or mixed-type dementia living at home were examined.
No difference in paired associative stimulation induced cortical neuroplasticity between patients with mild cognitive impairment and elderly controls.
Jacob Lahr,Jessica Peter,Lora Minkova,Lora Minkova,Eliza Lauer,Janine Reis,Bernhard Heimbach,Michael Hüll,Claus Normann,Christoph Nissen,Stefan Klöppel +10 more
TL;DR: The results argue against a continuous reduction of LTP-like plasticity along the spectrum of clinical MCI when stratified by MCI-subtype, APOE genotype or hippocampus atrophy.
