Channel Migration Detection and Landuse/Landcover Changes for Barak River in Northeast India

AbstractIn the northeastern region of India, Barak River is the second largest, flowing parallel to the river Brahmaputra in the southeast part of the Himalayan range, covering nearly 1.38% of the total geographical area of the country. Before entering into Bangladesh, Barak River streams through Assam. The drainage area of the river is 24220 km2 up to Badarpur Ghat. In this study, an attempt is made to analyse the changes in land use land cover (LULC) of the Barak basin over 30 year’s period (1988−2018) using Landsat images of the year 1988, 1998, 2008 and 2018. Spatial as well as positional accuracy varies with the different data sets used in this study. We have georeferenced all the data sets using control points to improve the positional accuracy and also resampled the MSS data to improve the spatial accuracy. This work documented LULC classification in its surrounding flood plain areas using both supervised and unsupervised classification. From the analysis, it was found that water, dense vegetation and wastelands area have decreased by 23.48%, 3.48% and 35.92%, respectively, in 2018. However, agricultural, grassland, urban and riverbed have increased by 8.08%, 13.12%, 73.76 and 134.62%, respectively. Overall, LULC accuracy varies between 93.75% and 97.50%, and Kappa statistics varies between 0.9183 and 0.9714. Findings of this study will give us valuable source in order to understand the changes that occurred in the LULC and further help us in appropriate planning, utilization and management of natural resources.KeywordsLand useLand coverAccuracy assessmentBarak BasinRSGIS 

Monitoring Land Use and Land Cover Analysis of the Barak Basin Using Geospatial Techniques

Ecological restoration with the assistance of certain artificial measures is to restore the original ecological function and productivity of the ecosystem or to make the ecosystem develop to a virtuous circle, which is a complex systematic project. Based on this, combined with the actual needs of a mine ecological restoration project, this paper puts forward the technical process and method of quickly acquiring the geographic information of abandoned mines by using the oblique photography technology of unmanned aerial vehicles. The verification results show that the maximum plane/elevation residual error of the checkpoints measured in the field is 0.221 m−0.181 m, and the median error is 0.030 m–0.112 m. According to the encryption requirement of 1∶500 scale topographic mapping in hilly land, the plane position error of the inspection point relative to the field control point should be less than 0.175 m. The elevation should be less than 0.280 m, and the experimental results in this paper can meet the requirements. Oblique photography can provide abundant digital results, and it can play an important role in mine restoration scheme design, restoration construction, and monitoring and management after restoration.

Multimedia Tilt Photography-Assisted Remote Sensing Technology in Mine Ecological Restoration

In order to monitor the temperature of agricultural planting in real time and avoid losses in the yield and quality of crops due to excessive temperature fluctuation, a multinode temperature monitoring method for digital agricultural planting based on a wireless sensor network (WSN) was proposed herein.First, the WSN structure for the digital agricultural temperature monitoring system was designed, and then the overall structure of the digital agricultural planting multinode temperature monitoring system was designed by combining it with the upper computer to collect agricultural planting temperature data.Next, the characteristics of the agricultural planting temperature data were extracted, and the data were transmitted to the upper computer by establishing a temperature transmission route.Then, the efficiency of the temperature anomaly monitoring was optimized based on multiple input multiple output (MIMO) mode.Finally, the real-time collected temperature value was input into a Bayesian classifier to monitor the temperature anomaly, determine the type of temperature anomaly, and send a warning to the administrator, who, based on the type of warning, takes the appropriate measures to adjust the multinode temperatures at the agricultural planting points.The experiments showed that this method had strong data transmission ability, and the survival time of the data transmission nodes was longer, and the energy consumption of the data transmission was less, and the accuracy of the abnormal temperature monitoring was above 96%.The results showed that this method can accurately monitor abnormal temperatures and provide a warning in real time, accurately control the temperatures of the agricultural planting points, and promote the digital development of agriculture. 

Multi-node temperature monitoring method for digital agricultural planting based on wireless sensor network

This study examined the changes in the area of land occupied by cocoa plantation in Ondo state in order to provide useful information for effective agricultural policy to increase cocoa yield as the leading export agricultural commodity in Nigeria. Satellite remote sensing technique was employed using satellite imagery of year 2000, 2002, 2014 and 2015 respectively acquired from Landsat-7 ETM+ and Landsat-8 OLI. The land cover of the study area was classified into six classes of cocoa plantation, forest, light forest and grassland, water body, bare surface and rock outcrop as well as settlement area. The result revealed that cocoa plantation occupied 31.3% in 2000, 32.7% in 2002, 41.4% in 2014 and 41.6% in 2015 respectively which depicts gradual increased in the area of land covered by cocoa plantation and its yield at the expense of other land cover classes which prove the potency of this tree crop of generating huge amount of foreign earning for supplementing revenue derived from crude oil in Nigeria. The area of land of other themes changes at different proportions but attention was on the cocoa plantation theme being focus in this research.
